Well, technically you can eat cats too. Wouldn't be my choice, but just sayin... LOL
Don't think I won't, if the cat doesn't get potty trained right quick ;D

I always feel better when my car gets some door dings anyway so I don't have to be paranoid when someone parks too close to me. My current one came pre-dinged so I didn't have to deal with the loss of perfection.

Good point. I suppose the cat will really have to piss me off in order to accidentally wind up on the dinner table. Anyway DF would probably leave me and he's worth way more than the cat ;D

Yeah, I took it pretty hard when that bike dented the bumper but I didn't have the money to fix it so I just figured I'd do it another time. Then the snow accident happened, and I was just so grateful it wasn't worse that I didn't really give a crap about the rim.
I cared more about this one since it was totally preventable but I guess if the other two stopped bothering me after awhile, this too shall pass.

You've never seen a cat go nuts on a laser pointer??? It's pretty awesome.

Get a laser pointer and have frugal entertainment instead ;DShould I ask? Cats chase laser pointers like there's no tomorrow. Just have him chase it down the hallway too fast and he'll bonk into the wall. So you can have entertainment instead of an expensive kitty dinner. ETA: GET ONE!!!!

Some dogs will chase them too. I made DH stop because our lab crashed into the wall and nearly knocked herself out trying to catch the laser.

Both of mine are fascinated by the light that reflects off of rings or watch faces bouncing off the ceiling/walls...

OH. I must have a dirty mind. I thought you meant play with DF and a laser pointer and I was trying to figure out what sort of game that might be.
Yes, I've heard the cat will go nuts over a laser pointer.

What? That could mean all kinds of things. Maybe I'm supposed to have DF chase the laser pointer around the room (I bet he would, too).

I've heard of women having to give a little direction, "faster, harder, right there, a little to the left," that sort of thing, but if you have to bring in a laser pointer and show him what to do you need to call this engagement off pronto!!! ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png)

*snicker* Reminds me of Ellen Degeneres's skit about people who tape themselves having sex. She said that there are only two reasons why people do that - either they are just THAT enamored with their own looks, or they're watching it the way you'd watch a tape of a football practice - circling the screen, "See that right there? That's no good. We need to tighten up that line, go a little smoother there, THAT was much better."

Sorry about the crappy month. I know sometimes it feels like you are bleeding money with no end in sight.
I've had two places on my car fixed both were pretty big dents, cracked the paint badly, etc. One was a hit and run in a parking lot a month after I got it. I was pretty sick about that one. Last June right after I moved up here some idiot merged into my lane. And apparently in MD cops won't ticket you unless someone's injured or the vehicle requires towing. So the slimey sob lied to his insurance about it and I had to pay my deductible. That was a disaster.
Last December I slid on ice into a curb in my apartment complex after coming to a complete stop before turning slowly. Bent the wheel and cracked the wheel cover. Brother found a new wheel on ebay from a wrecked 2010 with 7k miles on it. Its worked so far. Used a $75 credit from an oil change gone seriously bad to order new wheel cover.
Was in a little fender bender this winter and cracked the front bumper. I was going to get it replaced but now I doubt I will. I've done a ton of highway miles and my car seems to get pelted with random rocks and stuff. The paint job has not held up well at all if you look closely at front on hood, around lights, etc. I keep meaning to buy a hood guard, it'd cover most of the chips/rust spots but then I'd need a couple days of dry weather to touch up the chips and get them dry before I slap the guard on. Maybe memorial day weekend?
I just noticed a small dent right by the hood above the wheel well on the driver's side. I have no idea how the hell that got there. My only guess is a SUV or something big was parked by my car in apt parking lot and when they opened the door their mirror hit it or something. Its such a random high up spot to be dented. The spaces are ridiculously tiny I drive a Subaru Impreza and can't fully open my doors if I am parked between two cars. Some spaces are even tinier and I can barely get door open enough to enter/exit the vehicle.
This was my first new car and all the little dents made me sick at first. It doesn't look bad you have to be up close and looking to see the crack in the front bumper. I'm pretty much over it. I mean its a miracle the oil plug dropping out while I was doing 75 mph on highway didn't blow the engine up.

My first new car too, so I totally know what you mean. But Dark's right - it's going to get old and banged up eventually. Might as well get the banged-up part over with.
Last time DF and I were driving home from Washington (in his car), he was sleeping in the passenger seat when a HUGE ROCK came flying toward the car. I heard the impact and almost had a coronary - it was right above the windshield and I was absolutely positive I was going to see the windshield shatter all over us. Plus, I was stunned that DF didn't immediately bolt up - he must have been really sound asleep, because it was LOUD when it hit, and right above his head too.
But it hit the car, not the windshield (thank goodness). When we stopped, I checked out the top and sure enough, there was a huge dent from the rock. Luckily, DF's car is even more banged up than mine ;D

Oh I had to get a rock chip fixed too in the first six months or so of owning the car. It was really big quarter sized probably and I didn't want it to spread. I think I had glass coverage but for some reason I just went to the place the dealer used and paid $60 to get it shot up with glue. I swear its a magnet for getting hit with stuff. Honestly though I doubt it was worth making a claim over, its got a ton of tiny chips in it now. The glue's held up and its not obstructing my sight lines so it'll be ok. I have to be looking at my windshield closely to see any of the other chips.
Dark is right but I think its hard to get over when its your first brand new car. I do plan on keeping it as long as possible but I'm already at 75k and have only had it for a little over 2.5 years. And who knows how much life dumping all the oil out on the highway took out of the engine. I love the AWD and it gets pretty good mileage too. I've only done tires, filters, wipers, spark plugs, and oil changes. They told me I needed brake pads but they lied. Glad I had my brother change them for me. The new ones went back in the box for when they are actually needed.

Wow, me too! Except I'm only at 38k miles. Feels like more...

Couple stints with 100 mile roundtrip commutes pile up the miles in a hurry. All in probably a year when you add it up. And everytime I go home to visit family and to help my grandma out its 650 miles roundtrip just getting there. I feel like I live in my car somedays.

I've had a lot of long-ass trips, but not much day-to-day travel. Typically when I use my car for something important it's to go somewhere 800 miles away. Otherwise, it's a 5 mile trip to the grocery store.

You should probably get used to the idea of needing a new car every 200k miles or so, which in your case would be every 7 years.

Panic attack... after the move-in cost is taken out I will have THIRTEEN DOLLARS LEFT in my account until Tuesday when the money I transferred from savings arrives because my darling fiance took out money without asking me first. If any more "pending charges" show up we are screwed.
Must... calm... down...

$13 until Tuesday? You've got credit cards right? If not, you can always use the tips from the Dacyczyns. ;D

Haha. Yes, we have a credit card - AND HE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE USING IT. We'll be okay, this is just growing pains from combining finances.
If we can just get through May, everything will get better after that. Come soon, May 30th!
Of course if the world goes to hell tomorrow at 6pm, I suppose all this worry will have been for nothing. I just hope that DF and I survive Armageddon long enough to get married before the world ends for good on October 21st.

I can't believe there are people that are always this close to the edge financially. How can they stand it? I feel like I'm about fifteen years older right now from all the stress.

I can't believe there are people that are always this close to the edge financially. How can they stand it? Ignorance is bliss. They seriously just don't think about it, or what could happen. Remember Dox's thread? Specifically how it seemed like she lived in a separate reality from the rest of us? That's how they cope with it.
