Two days after Pakistani PM Yousuf Raza Gilani took a direct stab at deteriorating US-Paki relations by saying that China is now his country's "best friend", China has retorted in kind by announcing it will provide another 50 JF-17 fighter jets to Pakistan on an "expedited" basis. The WSJ reports that "the agreement to accelerate supply of the jointly developed jets, the first 50 of which are being assembled in Pakistan, came as Pakistan's Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani held talks in Beijing during a visit that he has used to portray China as an alternative source of military and civilian aid. "We're getting the 50 jets, on top of the ones we already have. Something has been agreed in Beijing, so they'll be expedited" he said." In other words: step aside US, here comes China. read more here

First off I can understand why Pakistan would be upset at us running a military operation in their country.
They should understand how it looks when OBL was living on the outskirts of a large city in their country.
As for the China deal, more power to them. The U.S. still hasn't learned that you can't buy friends, you can only rent friendship for a while. Sometimes you don't even get rented friendship even if you keep paying & paying.

Interesting. Even more so than the thread about RUSSIA and Pakistan a few days ago. And it seems Russia and China also opposed US and other NATO members on sanctions against Syria..... battle lines being drawn here?? Sure a lot of people conversing with Pakistan since we killed Bin Laden..

I thought you guys were sending another couple billion hush money to Pakistan so that should keep them relatively quiet for a couple of months.

Oh, burns, you know we send money to all our enemies. It doesn't seem to work out for us, but we keep doing it, while throwing food stamps at our own people instead of jobs.

I think they are getting a 150 of those fighters JF-17's, then more latter. But their is no way they will ever out perform any of the American F22, F35s or even the older F18. Thats after they get past Israels f15I ,F16I, F21 These are serious planes with serious payloads and capability's. Like comparing Rolls Royce to a 70 model VW

Rumblings in the blogosphere-- will Pakistan go after India? India is much stronger militarily then Pakistan, they know it, thus useing surogates, Afgan Taliban and others in Kashmir, and as a buffer against India.

It's just evolution - China's the new emerging super-power. The US is the falling (fallen) empire. Why wouldn't Pakistan align themselves with the country that has the most to offer them?

China is a paper tiger. I wouldn't sweat it. They build sh** the same way the Soviets used to. I remember the thousands of vessels in the Soviet Navy-- we used to joke that every rowboat they could find got a number and a flag.
