Another vote for B. the infinity sign speaks to the math geek in me. The other infinity has too many stones for my taste.

I like C, D, and E. I lean towards E because my engagement ring is princess cut, so I like the square stones. I also like D with hearts, which seems appropriate for kids

Thank you for your thoughts! For A, it similar design to my wedding ring. I was originally leaning toward C when I first looked. D was also calling my name now because of the hearts and I have a heart on my engagement ring. With E, I really liked that it wasn’t flashing but still had a few small diamonds. This is the winner!! I’m going to order it once DD2 is in bed. 😁

I'm sorry. I don't have any sage words of advice other than I feel you. It didn't start with DS until 14ish, though. It does get better.
I'm hoping he gets his act together in high school. His brother was horrible in middle school and never got this work done either. His dad and I were called in for conferences constantly where they'd drop this big file on the table and ask us what to do. Ex 1.0 was always quick to say, you're the professional educators, you tell us. This is our only kid and you see hundreds!
But it was a Montessori, so no grades and no tests, and it didn't really matter. I'm kind of kicking myself for moving Carrot 4 years earlier. I miss the not worrying about pointless stuff.

DD14 took the practice ACT as a freshman as required by the school - composite score of 26; science and math 23 each, english 26, and reading 33 (clearly a strength). Pretty proud of these results. Planning to have her work on practice for both ACT and SAT for an hour/day this summer. Not going to beat her over the head with it but it's clear she's gifted enough to push into scholarship territory. Plus, I like to keep both kids fresh on math in particular so they don't get summer staleness in their skills.

Can we talk stinky teenager feet solutions/treatment?
A change in tennis shoes has really made the situation so much worse in our house. I think the old shoes were a kind of mesh, so more breathable and now standard shoes just hold it all in. Thank goodness it's summer and we're opening windows because the smell is permeable. I'm not joking when I say we can find the child just by following the scent.
This is puberty related not hygiene - we havent hit hours long showers yet but the kids overall hygiene hasnt changed in any meaningful way. Dh had the same problem as a teenager and was made to feel like he was gross and unclean which we definitely don't want to do. So...I bought some sneaker balls as a stop gap, which really do nothing. Now we have some chemically smelly foot odor wafting around. I have wool socks in my cart I need to hit the button on. This morning I thought about buying a 2nd pair of shoes so there is time to let one breath in between wears, and suggesting antiperspirant on feet after a shower.
Any other ideas? As a toddler the kid didn't like baking soda in his shoes so I haven't tried that either and may revisit - but think the 2nd pair would also be needed.

I used to rub anti-perspirant on the bottom of my feet every morning. It worked really good for girl foot smell and Gwen has been doing it lately as well at my suggestion.
Especially now that they got all those 24-48 hour formulas it seems to work pretty good.

I would definitely suggest a second pair of shoes to let them air out in between wearing. DH's feet still end up stinky. His socks are crunchy at the end of the day. I bought these to put in when he's not wearing them. Marsheepy 6 Pack Natural Bamboo Charcoal Bags, a.co/d/j9MtXuI

Gwen decided track wasn't for her. She was complaining of ankle pain and we found out she has fallen arches because she wears crocs all the time outside of dance. DH and I agreed 4 dance classes and track may be a tad too much at the moment. She's been getting really sore. We are proud of her for trying though and I said there is always next year or HS if she wants to try again. I am thinking we are going to have to hide the crocs. She's supposed to be wearing her sneakers with arch supports but what does she have on when we leave the house this morning?

Definitely get a second pair of shoes! I have found water shoes, like for kayaking, make a great, breathable closed-toe shoe that don't absorb all the odor and can really be worn anywhere that sneakers can.

So DD5 is starting kinder next year. I was looking at getting her into girl scouts but the troops are all full. She has a great group of girls at her prek that will all be going to different schools next year and I thought it might be fun to form a new troop so they can keep in touch. Is it an insane amount of work to be a troop leader?

I’m not a troop leader, but was the cookie manager parent this year. M is a 1st grader, so has been in Girl Scouts for two years. In our area, the new troops for kindergartners don’t start until the school year starts, so you still may be able to put her in one at the school. Ours meets right after school in the school building, which I love because if I can’t make it, M can go to after school care (which is at the school) as soon as the Girl Scouts meeting is over.
I believe you’re required to have an assistant troop leader as you need two adults (or more) at every meeting. I’d say our troop leader probably spends 5-7 hours/month max doing prep work, attending the monthly service unit meeting, ordering badges, etc.

Best books for girls about puberty, etc.? DD1 will be 9 in 2 months, so I figure she needs to start being prepared (she has a handful of knowledge about periods, body hair, deodorant, etc.), but both she and I could probably use some more resources.
I get that you have kids and they eventually grow up, but I wish that it wouldn't go by so quickly.

I've tried to get my DD to read any of those type books and she wouldn't read them (even though she's a reader). I do try to talk to her more about it than my mom did (which was never). DD1 seems to be more open with me than I was with my mom at the age. Kids growing up definitely does happen quickly!

I left it lying next to his bed and he doesn't want to admit he reads it, but I know he does before going to sleep sometimes.

Is it wrong that I wish Ex 2.0 would just vanish off the face of the earth? He's been showing up at Carrot's tennis matches, which is fine, great, he's being an involved dad, but I just don't want to be involved with him myself and he's just so...in my space. I mean, I don't know how he didn't notice that I was constantly backing away from him or moving over on the bleachers, but damn. Personal space dude, we are not cuddle buddies anymore. I can't even figure out what I used to see in him, although to be fair, he doesn't look anything like he used to either. These days he is sporting this scraggly long gray beard and just looks unkempt and scary. Not that I look all that hot anymore myself.

The American girl body book younger version that mpl listed gets a big thumbs up from my house and it's perfect for 9 when they are curious but not angsty and embarrassed yet.

That was one I did get that DD1 may have read a little bit. From when I looked at it, I liked it and DD1 was around 10 when I got it.

Rae - crazy idea but have you tried athletes foot cream/spray? I'd recommend spraying his shoes daily and using the cream twice a day following the directions.
The other things that can be helpful are non-synthetic socks, ie wool or cotton as they absorb better. The other thing is leather or cotton shoes. Non-leather shoes really make my feet sweat and smell bad.

Dc liked the American girl books. We're on the Celebrate Your Body books now which are similar but more inclusive.
Which reminds me I have older books for ds I need to get to him.

Odor is completely gone. I mentioned it to ds and he said it's 100% the spray and laughed at me for the add'l shoes - although he wore his last tennis shoes for almost 2 years so we are still likely to get our money out of them. Im really glad he found something easy and effective.

Gwen cut her own hair yesterday. I told DH it's a dumb decision every girl makes at least once in her life. I tried to cut my own bangs when I was 10.
I wasn't mad but I told her that was incredibly ill thought out.
I said I asked you multiple times if you wanted me to take you into get your splint ends trimmed and you said no. How well did your plan for DIY-ing it go? There is a reason you let people who know what they are doing do it. You would have maybe lost a quarter to half an inch of hair compared to it being almost back to your shoulders now.
Now she's going to lose more length so we can get it fixed before her recital.

There are ways to cut your own hair well and easily especially if it's longer so it's something she could try again just maybe googling for techniques ahead of time. Hopefully she ends up happy with the final results after it's fixed.

Dc is so stressed about field day. I'll call them out sick if needed, but I emailed the counselor to get a list of games and asked that they excused from 1 specific game at least. I get stressed at the idea of rocking the boat that it was hard for me to email, but I totally get where dc is coming from, and logically I knew the school staff would rather we reach out and have the conversation.
