I'm very close to going nuclear and just throwing stuff away. It's the sorting and deciding what to do with things and the guilt over tossing things that is holding me up.
Eta: Especially with clothes. What else can I do with old clothes except use them for rags and how many rags do I need? I can see taking really nice stuff to GoodWill, but my kids don't grow that fast anymore and who wants to buy tshirts that have been worn a LOT and not in great shape anymore?
No-one. Why not recycle the clothes? I have a bin about 1/2 mile from my house and I throw in old clothes, shoes, underwear... the things no-one will buy from Goodwill. Here's an organization in Minnesota: www.weareverrecycling.com/locationsAny close to your house? The closest one on that list is 80 miles away. We used to have drop boxes in our town for something similar, but I think people were throwing garbage in them and they took them away.

Mpl - I honestly think you should just have one really big bonfire. All of the hand me downs and stuff that your mom has given you over the years has become this really big burden for you.

Any tips for teaching my newly turned 5yo to blow her nose? She’s got allergies and is seriously struggling with the stopped up nose. Nothing I’ve tried has worked so far for it to click for her.

I had allergies forever and couldn't blow my nose until I was an adult. I still have to do one nostril at a time. Maybe try that? (She is seriously cute--omg!)

Ordered Abby her JoJo Siwa diary with a lock for her birthday. She's really into diaries lately. The problem is she hides them so "Gwen can't find them" and then forgets where she hid them. There is an army of journals hidden in various places of my house that likely won't be found till I die.

That's a pretty campus - glad you enjoyed your visit. Visiting DD13 in college came up this week. DH said we will absolutely visit enough to get our money's worth.

It's beautiful and while you can't see it here, all the buildings on each side of the mall are mirror images of each other in the front, which totally satisfies my OCD. LOL It's such a big school though. I honestly don't think it's physically possible to get to some of his classes in the 15 minutes he has between them, especially if you have to cross the Mississippi to the other bank. He doesn't seem concerned at all though.

DD turned 20 yesterday. Today she drove solo the 700+ kilometres to Prince Rupert to pick up her BF. He's been working at a fishing resort all summer. Her timing was pretty good. She pulled up to pick him up not long after he got to PR.
They are going to spend tomorrow being tourists and drive home on Friday.
It's not a super hard thing and she's not a baby but I'm still pretty impressed. It's nice when you've been trying to raise an independent self-reliant and capable individual despite not always being a good example and you see that they are.

We're home from camping and my house and patio are a disaster. I'm off the next 5 days, but I'm stuck in this paralysis trying to figure out what to work on first. I have to get the rental property ready to list too which needs work or to find a handyman that will show up and do it. Neither of which are appealing.
And I made some comment to dh yesterday that if he was so certain we didn't need to go to the store he could pack lunches today which he's taken to heart. But he puts everything off to the last minute it stresses me out. Before bed he says he's going to the bakery in the morning for good bread for sandwiches. So I should have just gone yesterday.

Had it been the other direction, I could have. I took classes in addition to business classes. They were all in buildings up the steep hill. Add icy sidewalks to the equation, and it was around 25 minutes.

They throw that info in their later. In fact they're still were changing things on his schedule as far as teachers and halls earlier this week and classes start next week. No hills at least, but walking this bridge in the dead of winter probably isn't fun.

That's why the Gophers have tunnels everywhere! Except under the river...no tunnel under the river.

I found Abby a little make-up kit on Amazon. She's always trying to copy me or Gwen. It's driving Gwen insane that she keeps stealing what little make-up I allow Gwen to have. I don't mind her in mine so much but sometimes she destroys stuff by accident. Now she can have her own little kit and I'll give her some stuff I don't use anymore to add in. She will be thrilled.

Sounds like Abby is going to be so excited, drama - yay!
I have an extra blush brush and an eyeshadow blending brush that I keep on my bathroom counter with my other makeup stuff. M loves to use those and “apply” makeup. I’ll be sad when she realizes that she’s not doing anything other than touching her face with an empty makeup brush, but I’ll continue to enjoy the cuteness of it while it lasts. It also cracks me up that she always asks permission first. 🥰

My kid went from a slug to a massive overachiever this year. Gwen is in Orchestra, she's doing tap, jazz and gymnastics at the dance studio, she signed up for tennis club, choir club and now signed herself up for cheerleading club as well. I'm exhausted reading it! Talk about putting me to shame I didn't find my niche until high school and only did drama. Now I work, come home and sit like a slug reading click bait till bed time. She was getting herself up at 6:00 am to get ready for school/shower too but we talked her out of that because it was killing me to get up that early. I get a little concerned she may burn herself out but I am going to let that be her choice. I would have had to step in if the clubs weren't through a program that handles all the logistics but since they do if she wants to do them after school it works out.

CU finally got the city to put in a few tunnels but that was mostly due to car traffic on roads that are close to campus. Unlit bicycles come out of those tunnels at night and scare me. I don't want to hit them. None of the tunnels existed when I was there.

I'm guilty of overscheduling, but that sounds like an awful lot. The clubs are pretty basic it's mainly designed for parents who can't afford/don't really need Kids & Co but need a place to park their kid till they get off work. If she gets bored or overworked she can just stop attending and it's no skin off anyone's nose. Orchestra she needs to stay in for at least the semester. That is required when you sign up for these things which I think is fair. We made sure to remind her of that multiple times. Tap/jazz and gymnastics we'll see. I can cancel at any time but I won't get the costume deposit back. If was like the first studio I tried she'd be finishing the season because that deposit was A LOT. Here it's like $30 I don't have a problem eating it if she gets too stressed.

Babysitting for a friend who's kiddos are 6, 4, and 2 from noon today until 6 pm Sun. Dd13 and dd9 are with me so we have a 1-1 ratio. I relieved their grandparents who did sun - thurs and looked exhausted lol. The grandma texted me this morning to stop and get fruit which made me chuckle as I was wondering what the grocery stockpile might look like and I know these 3 eat their weight in fruit.
2 yo whimpered a little when grandparents left but I distracted her with blueberries. At 2 when she went down for her nap, I ran out to get caffeine as they eat very healthy and were even out of coffee. Also bought a few more gluten free entrees. Feeding them is tricky - gluten free, one peanut allergy and one egg. Dd13 and I both read all the allergy info and practiced the fake epi pen on each other.
Friend and her DH got a great deal on flights to alaska for their 10th anniv. And she readily agreed to trade off and watch mine for up to a week sometime.
Should be an interesting change of pace for the weekend.

So DD got her car back from me with more gas then she left me. She returned my car to me with a half a tank of gas when I gave it to her with a full tank. Guess DD is still a work in progress.

I used dawn soap to make a bowl full of bubbles, skimmed them off the top and put into another big plastic bowl. Put down a beach towel on tile kitchen floor. Set toddler on it, hide two plastic people in the bubbles and gave her a spoon and a plastic measuring cup to find them. First she thought I was crazy. Then she was weirded out touching the bubbles so I showed her how to wipe her fingers on towel. Then she giggled and played for 30 mins while I cleaned up kitchen. My girls and the other two came upstairs and all 4 thought I was crazy. Then next thing even my 13 yo is down on the floor putting bubbles on her nose. Had to add more bubbles, bowls, and spoons. Got at least another half hour playtime in and then started peeling them off for bath time. Obviously toddler was wet and I had to wipe the floor but the experience was worth it. Dd9 asked if I had her play that game when she was two. Yep. Then she said were we poor and without toys. SMH and LOL. Oh and didn't remember until today that I should be using a bib for this age. Oops. So out of practice. Need to figure out lunch tomorrow. Going to put plain chicken in the crockpot for dinner and easy leftovers for their mommy for a day or two. Cooking gluten free is pain. I may spring for dominos gf pizza tomorrow. They avoid it because their daddy has Crohns, and they eat very healthy. No celiacs and dd13 and I both know they order dominos on occasion. We are laughing about ordering just enough and burying the boxes in the garbage or we know they will insist on paying us back. I'd have to feed my two growing kids this weekend anyway. I have to say the gf pancake mix that I got at Target wasn't bad. I only got a couple of bites though. The 5 girls ate all 11 servings! And a whole bag of clementines throughout the day. Toddler woke up at 5, dd13 and I took a two hour afternoon nap when she did. Dd9 was in charge for movie time Fun by exhausting!

Proud of ds, but frustrated at the school. I'm sure I posted that his insulin pump fell off today during school. He missed 25 minutes of class waiting for me to get there and change it. His sub for the class he missed told him he needed to "straighten himself out" even though she knew why he had missed class. Ds sent a polite email to all the pertinent people saying even as a joke it was a hard thing to hear over something he has no control over.
I don't expect people to get it. There's so many misconceptions about diabetes, and unless youre affected by it, there's no reason to try to learn about it. I get that everyone says something stupid sometimes. My foot lives in my mouth. And theres no way for the sub to know anything about ds. Even his regular teachers are just getting to know him. But its frustrating. Ds handled it well though. Probably better than I would have.

Ugh, that stinks Rae. Awesome that he handled it so well, but absolutely horrible that the sub said something like that. Any chance you can also send an email to the principal and maybe whatever assistant superintendent is over staff, and ask them to address this with the sub so something like this doesn’t happen to him again or any other kids in the future?
