Our school district will be starting remotely as well and then they'll see and decide what to do for the rest of the semester/year. I am relieved that we won't have kids crammed into already overcrowded school buildings. But cannot imagine what the families with young elementary school age kids are going to do. I hear some families are banding together to form learning pods. But some are single parents with no family around to help, no money for nannies/tutors and a job that can't be done from home.

The school has decided on a hybrid approach with team A going MTW and then ThF the next week, and Team B going the alternating week. I hope I can keep the Wendesdays straight.
Also, there will be soccer starting 9.21, so even though they will be going either 2 to 3 days a week, I have to get them there for soccer every day after school. I didn't think that through. They now have an online sports sign up portal, but it doesn't autopopulate, so you have to fill in all the blanks for every kid. And they must ask for my cell number at least 25 times. And the kids had to have a physical prior to school starting, that I've already supplied to the school, but I also need to supply them one for sports. Of course, i don't have a copy. I'm not sure why there isn't a place to say, "physical on file at nurse's office."
At some point, I need to get school supplies and clothes. Ihave no idea what they need. DD is going into 7th grade at a new building, so there should be orientation. I have no idea what I'm doing, or what she should be doing.

Took Gwen to do some back to school shopping to cheer her up.
She needed underthings but we couldn't find any that fit ot didn't have cutesy childish prints.
So help me God I took her to Victoria's Secret and let her pick out 5 for $30. And they FIT.😣
When did I get a kid old enough to shop at the same stores I do?

Holy cow. I'm not old enough for her to be too old for Justice.

Justice was gone from the mall. I offered to shop online but she chose Old Navy
VS happened to be at the mall. I know Gwen and I now wear the same size thanks to some laundry confusion. So I knew we'd find stuff that fit there rather than hoping her size is online.
Their bras are garbage but their underwear is a good deal and holds up really well.

C asked to talk to someone about his enotional wellbeing last night. He said he only feels happy when he can ignore reality playing video games with my sister. Im so proud of him for bring it up. I know it was hard, and it breaks my heart that he's struggling but so proud and I told him as much. He said he wants me to go with him.
I also think I may need to actually change jobs. Ive stopped counting the days since my last day off. They were camping all week so I worked literally all day everyday and theres no change, and no sign of being caught up. My boss knows and is trying to get help but...I said last month I didnt want 30 loans a month to become normal and Im closing 45 this month. Im getting in enough that Ill be closing 40 next month.
I dont know that anywhere else is better unless I can maybe change positions. Im refinancing with my friends company and she said her processors just cry all day. But its affecting my kids. I cant just keep hoping it will change.

Spent the weekend with my BFF. It was good.
Things aren't great at home - not sure where we go from here.

10 days later and I'm still waiting for DS to get that one scholarship taken care of. I handled the other one and the U fixed it within a couple hours of emailing them. He's sitting around waiting for his counselor that had an out of office email to apparently come back from summer break, so I finally lost it and told him to email someone else in the counseling department at the school, which he did and copied me...there was zero chance they would have known what he was talking about from his email. He realized that after I pointed out that he didn't even tell them the name of the scholarship he was asking about, but seriously, WHY can't he spend 30 seconds to determine if he's including all pertinent info in a two sentence email?
Yes, I'm very stressed out lately!

My dh quit working a little early today while I was still working, so after I heard him scheduling appointments for cars, I asky him to schedule dentist appointments for the boys. Asked him to get them in after school. Couldn't get them in until October 5th. Um, that's youngest's birthday. Oh, I guess it didn't even cross my mind. (Doh!). All right, we'll go with it unless something else comes up, since it's just a cleaning, and this pediatric dentist is really easy on them.

I made eye appointments for everyone that is out to October. Dentist got them in next week which will cause a revolt, but we're ridiculously overdue. I usually give them a month to settle in to the idea. It has to be done.
I spoke with a therapist who can see C on Thursday. Crossing my fingers it goes well. Ill be with him, and will encourage C to look for the right fit. I hate this part of therapy though.

Well, I'm feeling a little better about moving Carrot now. I just found out last night, his teacher there, whom he ADORES, has resigned. I was feeling a little guilty about pulling him away from that stable connection when everything is so nutso, but he would have been going back to a new teacher anyhow.

I made eye appointments back in June and the earliest I could get was mid September, so DS will not be getting one before he heads off to school. Not really a big deal for him because he's the one with perfect eyesight, but I should have been in 6 months ago getting a new prescription and Carrot I want seen by someone other than Walmart where I took him last year. They said he needed glasses which we got, but he hates them and never will wear them. I don't blame him. I just started wearing glasses 5 years ago and if my eyesight wasn't as bad as it is, I'd toss them aside all the time too.
Dentist appointments we always just go ahead and schedule the next one while we're in the office.

I must have cancelled their dentist appointments and then never rebooked. I have to get better about that. Its something dh should 100% be able to handle working part time but his dentist phobia apparently carries over to even taking or scheduling the kids. Eye stuff is important for C, but so far no issues. I just realized that I still need to go in every year post lasik because dgm had macular degeneration and my mom has been diagnosed now too. So this will be my first time in for years. I'm betting they put me in glasses.

That's why I specifically wanted the kids to see a pediatric dentist, so they wouldn't get issues. Lots of toys, and their very sensitive to the kids feelings. When they went at really young ages, it was simply to get the kids used to getting someone looking in their mouth. It's not 100%, though. I developed dentist anxiety as an adult seeing worse dentists. So, the little guy was upset about going, then he was like, well, at least I'll get a new toy, and maybe a new toothbrush. Yup, definitely kid! 😁

Carrot is phobic about doctors and shots but does ok at the dentist...he's never had to have much of anything done besides cleaning and fluoride though and he did start when he was 2 or 3 when they basically just looked in his mouth and then gave him a sticky hand (he STILL brings those damn sticky hands home every time). If he gets a cavity or they end up having to pull a baby tooth like they did with older son then we will have issues for sure.

Even now, I have to listen to an audiobook.

Hi all. Long time, no post. The pandemic has sucked in our house. My husband and I are struggling with our differences as to how we process information, what we believe, our attitudes etc.
The kids were supposed to go back to school in a week every other day but last week's storm changed all of that. Every school in the district sustained damage, over half the school buses were damaged, the sidewalks are debris covered, there are tops of trees still hanging down and that does not even mention the fact that big chunk of the town STILL does not have power, homes destroyed, people living outside in tents because their apartments have been deemed unsafe and landlords have not done anything. It is heart wrenching. We were so lucky. We were out of town, our house was undamaged, the trees did not fall on anything at all, we were only without power for 48 hours and our big freezer was fine.
First day of school is set for September 14. It feels so far away. Totally necessary, but that is a full 6 months without school.

We haven't gone to the dentist since the quarantine, not sure when I'll feel comfortable, hope soon and hopefully it isn't too bad for our health. DS went to the orthodontist as they needed to check him out to order new trays. Since they just basically look in his mouth for a fairly short amount of time, and not actively work on it, I felt that was lower risk. The kids have done annual physical this summer, DD over a video chat but they wanted to see DS in person, not sure why.
It is interesting what we find risky and what we're OK with. I can fret over things that others find a non-issue and vice versa. Definitely different strokes.
I still haven't done anything about our refi after asking a bunch of people, even here, about it and just can't make up my mind while the rates are now starting to go up and feel like we're going to miss out on something that would be so helpful to us. For one, the few times we dealt with mortgage and refi, we got burned so we're twice shy. Another issue is we're procrastinators in just about everything so this is not an exception. And then I read how difficult it is in the industry because they're slammed and don't want to add to their hardship (Rae comes to mind and I feel for her working long hours). Somebody slap me over the head, please!

Oy, that stinks muttley. The coverage I’ve seen of the storms look bad - so glad you guys were mostly spared. Hoping the cleanup goes smoothly for your whole area.

I took my kids to the dentist last week, and DH and I each had our own dental appointments in the couple of weeks before that. C is easy - he’s fine, no issues, relaxed about it all. M, not so much. She did much better this time than last time, and actually let them take the X-rays, so that was a win. But then started crying when they went to put the vitamins on her teeth at the end - it’s literally like a kids watercolor paintbrush they use to put a clear liquid vitamin on her teeth, and that’s what cued the freak out (before they even started it). She’s also got a couple of cavities, so we have to go back next month. Due to the placement of one of them, they’re going to try a silver-fluoride treatment instead of drill/fill, so hopefully she’ll do okay (especially since she has to go back for a second treatment a few weeks after the first).

I'm glad your house is ok and that you guys are mostly ok too. I'm sorry you and your H are struggling. I have days where I just want to bury DH in the backyard and days where I want to snuggle up with him. Shrugs.
How are the kids holding up?

Glad you and the family weren't there while it was happening and that your house is OK. How was the school during the spring? I imagine your kids were doing online learning. Hope this fall is a better experience. Sorry to hear about the differences in opinion with your husband. Such stressful times for everyone. Hang in there! Here's some of what helps me in times like this:
