Would adopting an older child ever be a consideration? That might make take some of the now or never, lifetime of regret pressure off.
You aren't wrong for choosing to be done either.
I'm still in the thick of it with my 1 and 3 year old. I'm 99% sure I can't do it again. I know they will get easier as they get older, but I'm getting older too and I hate pregnancy. DS did get a lot easier after 2, but it's all relative and all kids are different.

I think there is a window where they're easier, but tween feels worse than toddler years a lot of the time and I can only imagine what the teen years will bring. I don't mean that it's all bad because I love so much of it too but the problems and worry are so much bigger. Maybe it just always feel like what you're in is the worst of it and yesterday's issues seem easier too.

My issue is it’s pretty much now or never. Even if I got pregnant today I’d be 40 when I had the baby, and DH almost 43. I wouldn’t want to wait too much longer. I mean, maybe. But kids go through phases. C could be sleeping through the night again in 3 months. 3 months is not make or break. I get it. I really, really do. It feels like you *MUST* make a decision about this RIGHT NOW. But that's not true. Women have babies over 40. 3 months, 6 months, a year from now things might be different. Or they might not. I do know, that starting from a place of "I'm so exhausted I cannot imagine ever sleeping again" is not a place of strength to go through fertility treatments and pregnancy. Unless you have that voice that is saying BABYRIGHTNOWGIMMEBABYBABYBABY that's overriding the exhaustion, I would say no for now. ETA: I know when the kids are little, it feels like every phase has been going on forever and WILL go on forever. But it won't - I promise it won't. It doesn't make time-sensitive decisions easier, necessarily, but in one month, or three, you could be in a COMPLETELY different place, where C sleeps all night every night but has also given up all foods that aren't popsicles.

He's 2.5 I guarantee you things will change tremendously in this coming year. Not saying he'll be a great sleeper, but it will be different for sure. My oldest was always a great sleeper. Carrot...no. He was coming into bed with me every night until he was 3 or 4 and driving me nuts. Then one night he just stopped cold turkey and that was it. He's 9 now and I sometimes WISH he would just once (although after sharing a bed with him on vacation last week, I'm kind of over that...the kid thrashes all over when he sleeps). Also, I was 41.5 when Carrot was born. It's perfect. He'll graduate high school the month I'm able to start drawing on my retirement accounts without penalty.

My kiddos are 4y2m apart. My C (oldest) was a crap sleeper. That’s part of the reason we waited, and also because I just wasn’t ready. He finally started sleeping through the night somewhere around 3, so that was good for when we had M.

I know things will be different, I just don't know how. And for better or worse I do feel this huge pressure to just make a decision. I worry that the nightmares will be an ongoing issue, but hopefully I'm wrong.

Making the decision is the worst part I think, no matter what decision I'm trying to make.
I signed the kids up for a 1 day chess camp tomorrow. C has done chess club at school and a few chess tournaments. We're always lamenting the lack of girls at the chess tournaments, so I'm really glad that E wanted to sign up for the camp. She plays with us at home, but wasn't confident enough to do the tournament last year.

With kindergarten starting in three weeks, today is the first day where Harper isn't taking nap in the afternoon.
I have been working from home, with my children here, the entire month of July because our daycare provider took the month off to prepare for her wedding, get married, and go on a honeymoon. Afternoon naps are when I get a break to actually have some peace when I'm working.
I'm hoping she will play quietly and not bother me too much.
I think she'll be fine...until 6pm when she gets the tired crazies and drives all of us insane until we put her to bed at 7. Ugh.

Good luck Steph! I dread times I'm working from home without someone else here in charge of the kids.

How many parent portals am I going to have to sign up for? There's daycare works for school payments, infinite campus for school district info, and class dojo for class updates. The pediatrician expects me to confirm appointments with an app. I'm not generally techno phobic, but it's tedious and I'm kinda over it. Can I just be one of those difficult people who has to be contacted?

They each have different username requirements and password requirements and none of them are single-sign on. Last year i gave up and up and went through the trouble of going to the bank and getting cash and putting it in an envelope for DD's lunch every week because I just could not with another portal.

Glad I'm not the only one. I keep forgetting all the passwords and websites too. Admittedly I could be more organized about it, but when you go to do one thing and have 8 steps to get there it's just obnoxious.

I know we have two portals for school so far - one for grades/attendance/etc. and one for lunch fees.
Plus, like you, one for the pediatrician. I never remember about that one - I went into the office last year just to get Harper's vaccination record for school, and they're like "You could print this off the portal." I felt like an idiot because I totally forgot there was a portal...

OMG I hate school registration. I need three different pin numbers just to log in. I forget them every year. You'd think along with all the junk mail I get from the school they could send important shit like your children's log in number.
Then I cannot for the life of me figure out how to register Abby for Kids & Co. It won't let me do new registration because I already have Gwen but when I log into that account there is no option to add a second child.
So lots of cranky phone calls tomorrow. School is going to drive me to drink.

I save my login and passwords as contacts in my work email and then mark them private. I give them a name I remember and add the website, login, and passwords in the notes section.

I never have to do anything to register for school at either the public or the private. It just rolls over from year to year I guess. DS is thinking about a sport for the first time, so I'll have to go online and do the athletic eligibility forms though and they need to be done in the next week or so, so I'd better get to that pretty soon.

We went to middle school open house yesterday. For the first time my daughter will be riding the bus. I go to the transportation table and she's not in the system. She can't ride the bus until we've filled in a 'packet'. Where do I get the packet? They'll give it to her next week. The assistant principal says it's illegal for them to leave a kid at the bus stop so she's going on the bus on Monday. I will talk to the driver first just to make sure. I personally know two other parents with the same problem and met another man at the transportation desk yesterday being told the same. The county website is no help " src="http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/angry2.png">.

Score 1 for dh, he handles the kids school portals, registering, etc. I don't think I've even set mine up. He always waits until their lunch accounts are overdrawn to put money in them which annoys the crap out of me, but I don't have to do it.

I wanted it all over and done with at once, so that is why mine are 22 months apart. Bottles, diapers, etc. It was hard enough going back to the beginning with Chloe and Harper wasn't even 2 yet. But Harper slept through the night at 12 weeks old and was potty trained right after turning 2, so I had that going for me. Neither of mine were planned, but are 19 months apart. Thing 1 didn't sleep through the night and was well into being 3 yo old when she potty trained. Thing 2 may have never happened had she not decided to make her debut when she did.

Kids & CO could not have made that harder if they tried. Adding another kid is under a completely different tab than the registration is.. How the hell was I supposed to figure that out? It's not labeled "add a kid" either it's labeled "personal".

Friend's teen changed our Hulu account to use closed captioning. I think because she was watching tv with adults in the room talking. DH and I couldn't figure out how to turn it off. Particularly annoying when watching So you think you can dance and it's captioning the song lyrics. DH and I and tried and tried and totally found where it says CC on/off, but it wouldn't cooperate. Shut everything down and restarted, still CC.
Since DD11 is still at camp and not available to help us figure it out, I ended up texting friend and saying, have your kid text me how to fix CC. Yeah, you have to be playing a show and then go to those settings and turn it off. ARGH.
Have I mentioned that I feel old?!

Ooo - here's another funny.
DD11 recently became a Harry Potter fan and finished the first 3 books and put next two on order at the library. I stopped by over lunch to pick them up. Book 4 is ginormous.....yeah, she ordered the large print version. I'm so making fun of her for that since she just turned a year older this week!

First day of preschool has put DS and I both through an emotional wringer. He apparently cried the whole time and didn't want to participate in anything. She said she expects it'll get easier for him on Tuesday. On the plus side, in spite of being sad, he listened during storytime and told me all about what the other kids did today. They had cocoa puffs for snack. He didn't want any because mommy gives him his snacks.

Ydd is getting her hair cut. Last time we did this was a fee years ago. She said she wanted it shorter so we will see how it turns out. She also wants A to dye it pink, red, and orange for the start of school.

One kid registered. I had the right username but for the life of me could not remember the password. Got it reset AND once I got in made sure to change my email address so if I do this again next year it'll go to the right place. Also wrote it down and will put it in the safe. Pretty sure I registered Abby at Kindergarten round up because I remember the form but I'll have to double check. Kindergarten and 4th grade, where did the time go?

First and sixth grade.
We have a $50 credit leftover in our lunch account. Woot, woot. I guess it's from absences and field trip days.
Off for a week's vacation in Michigan before school starts.
