This is a safe site designed to help provide food for unwanted animals. It only tales a second to click on the donation button and you don't have to "register" first. I've been doing this on a daily basis for quite some time. "The Animal Rescue Site focuses the power of the Internet on a specific need — providing food and vital care for some of the eight million unwanted animals given to shelters every year in the U.S., as well as animals in desperate need around the world. Over four million animals are put to death every year in the U.S. alone because they are abandoned and unwanted. Each click on the purple "Click Here to Give - it's FREE" button at The Animal Rescue Site provides food and care for a rescued animal living in a shelter or sanctuary....." www.theanimalrescuesite.com/clickToGive/home.faces?siteId=3

[img src=" "] Kent, is that your puppy in the photo? Soooooo cute. No, but it looks a lot like she probably did when she was a pup. My previous two did look just like that. We rescued our current one from German Shepherd Rescue in northern CA when she was about a year old and weighed about 52 pounds. She's now at a comfortable 81 pounds. The very first day we had her, she was paying an inordinate amount of attention to a specific area on Mrs. Kent's leg cast. She would smell it and then go put her hand under Mrs. Kent's palm and repeated it numerous time again the next morning. Needless to say, I figured something must be really wrong so we headed off to the doctor. He cut a hole (window) in the cast, left the room and said he'd be back in a minute. A couple of minutes go by, he returns and announces, "You have a bed waiting for you at XXX Hospital, get there now." It turned out the wound was ulcerated and there were major concerns regarding gangrene. It took us almost eight years and roughly 18 or so surgeries but we saved her leg. Had the dog not put us on notice, we probably would have lost the battle long ago. Sorry to ramble but our dog is REALLY special to us.

That was really awesome that your dog did that. I'll bet she got a T-Bone that day. I've heard that some dogs have been able to sniff out cancer in people. We lost our little girls recently and think our next dog will probably be a rescue dog.

thanks for posting that link. I have a friend that is going to be looking for a pup soon and she mentioned getting a rescue. I clicked on the PetFinder link and there are a lot in our zip code, a lot more than I thought there would be. I'll pass the website onto her.

I like that 100% of money goes to charity. I gave found out that alot of the charities I donate to have an income of over 10 million a year yet, donates only 10-11%. Sad

'alot of the charities I donate to have an income of over 10 million a year, yet donates only 10-11%. Sad' I'm very careful about the charities I donate to. I learned a LOT when I worked for Salvation Army. I always ask for a financial sheet and look at the overhead figures. I stopped giving to United Way and Red Cross a very long time ago.

Thanks for the link, Kent. I had it a long time ago but lost it during many computer changes.
Wiseguy - I definitely agree with you. If more people learned the truth about PETA, I highly doubt they would support them. Same with the HSUS - the amount of money that actually goes toward helping the animals is very tiny.

I click the "..give" button most every day. Newest dog is a rescue as will all our future pals be. Oldest dog is an "almost rescue", we got him just before the breeder, yes, breeder, was going to take him to the pound. Add in a cat from a cardboard box in grocery store parking lot and you have "Da Boyz". They aren't spoiled, but they are well cared for. Don't know what we would do without them, probably resort to politics or some other disgusting habit.
