"If you're going to try to make me feel bad, you're not going to do it," Fick told WNEM-TV in Saginaw on Monday.
He's a good Democrat, no doubt...

That wouldn't happen here in CA. They look at total assets, except for those excluded by a Special Needs Trust.

Isn't it new Obama policy to not consider people's retirement, etc, if they have no income? What a low life to keep taking from tax payers when he is loaded.

Bet he's on medicaid, too. Punk. If that was ME and they said they can't stop it..( I doubt that, because they can stop you in a heartbeat for other reasons with no notice)..... I would make a public statement to that, and announce I would be donating the entire amount of food every month to the salvation army or some such. Lowlife.

There are programs that are mandated at a federal level, but some of the rules and eligibility requirements are left to the state. Unemployment and Food Stamps are just two examples. People should be mad at the Michigan state government if they choose to be upset about it.

That's fine, but I'm not letting the lowlife off the hook here. Wonder if he has always been a "taker".

But the most IMPORTANT issue here, people is whether or not he's using his food stamps to buy JUNK FOOD, isn't it?

I'm SHOCKED that nobody has commented on the fact that he was gambling on the lottery WHILE on food stamps. I guess he didn't have that little crippled, sick, needing an operation, baby that everyone on food stamps has.
This is just another example of welfare abuse & there are thousands of them (if not a lot more than that) if people want to dig. Of course then you would be called a baby killer.

Not to worry, many people who hit it big in the lottery are usually broke in a couple of years so odds are he will be elgible for food stamps anyway in short order if history holds true.

I've seen MANY people (in my cab) lose a big first time SSDI payment for thousands of dollars at the casinos here. Could have bought a little trailer, a little car, set themselves up to live on that pittance for the rest of their lives-- but off to the casinos they go.

Interesting, tough. 2 million should pay back just about anything and still leave him with plenty, I'd think, unless he has some serious illness or something.

Try 90% abuse. How about conducting a study to see how many welfare recipients have cable, big flat screen, internet, fancy cell phone, jewelry, nice car, fridge full of beer, boxes of cigarettes, illicit drugs...

From some of the comments above, it is apparent that someone who is collecting food stamps should meet certain requirements. Anyone claiming food stamps should be living in squalor, no TV, no electricity, must be disconnected from society, live in a box under a bridge - the bridge must be structurally unsound, public transportation must be of the freight train hopping variety, running water must be of the run-off variety, income must be derived from public donations, clothing must be tattered and well used, bathroom facilities must be shared with other species. Also, proof of hardship must be documented in triplicate and available at all times. In addition, political party affiliation must be tattooed on forehead so that the Liberal welfare junkies can be identified. This, of course, is being done to insure that these junkies do not undermine, in anyway, the new religious order of Free Market. In an effort to monitor all aspects of efficiency - the government will be conducting studies to determine a benchmark regarding the time it takes to take a . It is supposed that many Billions of dollars are lost to businesses because of extended bathroom breaks taken by employees.

That is how I feel about those congressmen getting farm subsidies and fighting to keep them off the cuts table, while crying about others entitlements and claiming to be fiscal conservatives.

Update: It has been dicovered that eating food items high in fat and/or preprocessed food found at many fast food chains accelerates the digestion and excretion prosess. With these findings, the government is encouraing employers to hire individuals who recieve food stamps and use these stamps to purchase fast food. Instead of food banks, we will encourage lard banks. Businesses will get increased productivity from these 'liberal welfare junkies' because they will not spend as much time in the bathroom. A new campaign, designed to capture these savings is being launched. Water savings will also be captured in this new program. The program is called 'leave your at the door'.

No, I would rather see a guy worth $2,000,000 not suck off the gov't teat. Which brings the bigger question - what about a guy making $20,000,000, $200,000,000 or $2,000,000,000 - would you prefer them to be sucking off the goverment's teat through privalege, political connections, regulatory capture or oughtright fraud?

First, 2 million dollars will be paid off so many thousand dollars at a time over 20 years. If he has been on welfare for a while, he already owes then tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands, so that should take care of at least the first year. Then he will have to pay off medicaid, that should take care of a good part of a couple of years too. He will be unable to continue getting either of these programs so if he gets hurt, goodbye lottery unless he buys health insurance which will easily cost him as much as a rent. These are just the obvious ways the government can recapture cash. I am sure there are more. I cannot imagine there is not more to this story since the moron openly spoke about receiving food stamps. Why not keep mum and take with both hands? I have known desperately poor people who had to pay medicaid back after they received judgments. One friend of mine received a judgment after an auto accident and I advised her to pay back all her old debts as Medicaid would take the money anyway and she would still owe everyone else too. She was a diabetic senior eking out a poverty existence on 11K in NYC. He called the State to report his wind fall, asked what know regarding food stamps, they checked, told him to keep using them..reason why is in the original post , article I posted. I didn't know that those who legitimately receive aid, no fraud, but legitimately qualify for aid , have to pay it back when they get work, no longer qualify or in this case come into $ legitimately, and as far as th one said he was violating something in buying a lottery ticket, he was not using the food stamp $, would not qualify, but possible other $ he has, such as legal qualified SS , just not enough to not have him qualify for food stamps, is my guess. Something along those lines.
