I stupidly forgot some irregular income DH made in 2010, so had to file a 1040x. It was filed back in mid-February, and I received the form letter that they had received it about a month later. The additional taxes we owe have yet to be withdrawn from our account. When can I expect this to happen? I have the additional money owed sitting in our low-interest checking account ready for their automatic withdrawal, but I'd like to know when I can expect it. Is there any chance the IRS just decided to forget about it? ;D

The IRS will get around to it sooner or later. It isn't likely that they will forget about it.

IRS does not ACH debit your account when you file an amended tax form (1040X). The instructions for line 19 to the form (December 2010 version, page 10, right column, about 1/2 way down) reflect the following: "You can pay by check, money order, or credit or debit card." If you sent a check there may be a good chance it was lost, IRS, typically will process checks pretty quickly. See the instructions at www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/i1040x.pdfThe IRS will send you a bill soon enough.
