I'm guessing Burns is talking Chappaquiddeck, but I could be wrong
You are not wrong Mr. Driftr and neither is dear Ms. krickitt. I don't like loudmouth, obnoxious drunken disgraces especially when they ram through their expensive policies payable by anyone but themselves while pretending to be compassionate and thoughtful individuals. Two faced garbage is all they really are.
And Mr. dezilooooo, no I never served but was drafted by the French army while I was in college in Canada so had to decline. I've regretted it on and off over the years.

So let me get this straight. A paid member of the major media, who has his own show, and tries to explain the Middle East political problems to America, personally advises our President on the Middle East. And fails to mention this little fact. Maybe we elected the wrong one...... And they say this President is not controlled by major media. Whoops-their goes another fairy tale..... This President has embarrassed the Office of the Presidency. Talk about Hillary and the 3 am wake up call...... the President is learning on th job.
In two short weeks Obama has entirely lost any ADDED political gain he picked up for assassinating OMB.

Drafted by the French Army while you were in school in Canada? Canada is Canada, a seperate copuntry and fance is to only a long way from Canadfa, unless you are or were a French national. Now if the French were still in Vietnam, don't blame you for declining, if ever that was a no win situation, that was it.

I am sure Zakaria is discussing unemployment numbers, inflation, and the three finalists on American Idol with the President.

I really don't understand , and I really tried, the problem some have , with this man or any one who is called in to such a meeting for their opinion on topics.
The man , Zakaria, is bright, has proposed some radical ideas, not saying they are wrong, correct, solutions for some of our problems. One biggie was his ideas on investment by govt for research, pump priming, for the discoveries of the 21st century, such as China, S Korea and other countries are doing. I posted it and his arguments here, it got squat response by the way, , but it was a major suggestion, a special TV hour with top people as guests from Industry coming in with their ideas, and a special article in Time. Actually part of it was taken by Obama in his State of the Union address.
That it may not fly, Zakaria is forgetting , actually he is not, he understands it very well and has mentioned the realities, and why if possible, to over come them if at all possible , but is very aware, we are a democracy, there are the realities of Politics. He is not a politician. The POTUS , who ever they are , are, thus some ideas, even if they are the way to go, not saying this is, but even if it was, Politics and passage by those we elect , has to be considered, and is.
So when people of this competence are called in and give their ideas, and after they leave and say the ideas are discussed by advisor's, hang er ons, other Government experts, then the reality of the ideas , passage of, and the costs and fall out have to be considered, and many times, good ideas, correct solutions, are just not possible or just parts of them are.
However, to be up set that POTUS sit down with such people, who are so qualified, makes no sense to me, does not compute to me, and I see no problem with them also continuing with their prime profession, in this case, one who interviews, writes opinions, books, analysis events, serves on boards of think tanks, giving his opinions.
He is not a reporter per say.

"He is not a reporter per say"
No he is a talking head for CNN
If this was George Bush in the White House, having Sean Hannity coming over advising him, your tone would be slightly different. Makes the President look like he is in the back pocket of major media, of the liberal persuasion.....as well as Middle Eastern philosophy and, pray tell, religion? Perception can become reality, in the minds of the public.

Doesn't the POTUS have advisors, or are they all clueless? If he wants advice from Zakaria he should put him on staff. But then, of course, he will lose the power he has to influence people through media exposure.

But then, of course, he will lose the power he has to influence people through media exposure. Krickett POTUS call on out side people all the time, not this POTUS as a unique event, all have, not on staff, just as experts with their ideas, they come ,they go....the power to influence is up to the people who listen, accept it or don't. However, if you don't care for what you hear, because it is not what you believd, to dismiss it out of hand, not to consider it because it's uncomfortable or you don't like hearing it , doesn't compute to me. If I am wrong in my ideas, and it's pointed out to me, especially by those who know more them I do on a subject, even I am not infallable, though hard to believe, , so be it.
