Do these calls tick you off? I think the politicians had a lot of nerve to exempt themselves from the Do Not Call list. If some politician has the nerve to call me in person, I give them a piece of my mind. I also refuse to vote for the damned candidate. Sometimes, I even call them back and leave colorful messages.
What do you do?

I hate those calls. I would love to get an initiative on the ballot here to remove their exemption.

What do you do? If an actual person, I will listen and ask questions, (last year we had 1 real candidate call the house, he was taken aback when I listened to him and didn't immediatly slam the phone down. He was running for a local position). If it's a robo or stump message, I leave the phone off he hook so the campaign can be charged for the call.

Issues??? What the heck do issues have to do with this? My privacy is more important. Besides if I am on the No Call list and they are stupid enough to call me, then they are too stupid to represent me!

Besides if I am on the No Call list and they are stupid enough to call me, then they are too stupid to represent me! We all have our reasons to vote or not vote for a candidate. For some people it is a phone call. For others it is a mustache (back before no call lists, I was calling for a candidate and was informed he needed to shave.) I do not instantly and automatically exclude from consideration a person based on this one situation.

" Hi, and thanks for calling. We're currently screening all calls for people we don't want to talk to. Leave a message. If we don't call you back, you're one of them."

FY, I turned off the answering machine and I try not to answer. I am perfectly able to resist the urge to run for the phone the second it starts ringing. Honestly, I don't really care to talk on the phone so the damned thing can ring all day for all I care. DW on the other hand...... Typical woman.

Is it the call that upsets or the perpetual request for money to run the campaign? I know we talk in the trillions about the debt...but my jaw still drops when I hear a candidate is out to raise a billion for this Presidential race....

If it's a recording, I hang up. If it's a person, I sing Broadway show tunes until THEY hang up.

Despise those calls. I lift phone and put it back. The unanswered completed calls that result in a busy tone on the answering machine really drive me crazy. I'm beginning to feel that phone calls are as intrusive as a stranger walking into the house uninvited. The blocks do no good. I'd like to hear that Molly! ;D

Oh sheesh, sad thing. My 86 year old neighbor still believes every phone call is important and she still believes everyone who calls deserves courtesy. It kills me to see her struggle to the telephone for this kind of bs. But good manners are good manners and I applaud it, though I wish she'd reconsider in the case of junk phone calls.

I do the same thing for telemarketers Hello my honey, hello my baby, hello my ragtime gal.. . Send me a kiss by wi-i-i-re! Baby my heart's on fi-i-ire! ;D Seriously, Molly, that is a brilliant and healthy solution.

I believe (maybe someone can correct me if I'm wrong) that this is a freedom of speech thing. I believe that the government can't make a law that inhibits expressing a political opinion. However, the government can make laws that regulate commerce. So, telling a compnay they can't telemarket is okay, but telling themselves they can't telemarket is unconstitutional.
How's that for some fancy lawyering!

Oh - and I 100% agree that it is total bull-nuggets. Knowing someone's justification and repeating it doesn't mean I agree with it.
