.... when it comes to thread titles.. I've seen a few around here and there that "spin" it to whatever the poster's opinion may be on a subject. then when you read the thread you find out that the title has little to do with the actual contents.
starting now, if one is seen, you will likely be asked to make your title something more appropriate. and if you choose not to, don't be surprised if it's done for you..

Can you give examples of threads which the mods would have changed the title of so we can get a flavor?

Re: ACORN expose goes to Congress « Reply #9 Today at 11:54am » -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- krickitt-your thread title suggests Congress is going to investigate ACORN. Can you post a current link to such a claim? If your thread had been titled "Book Exposing ACORN Sent To Congressional Members", I would not have an issue with the title. Here's one where the Mod has an issue with the title. www.notmsnmoney.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=politics&action=display&thread=8260

Lots of kids on their parent's health insurance plans out there, that's the way it should be. My dad worked for the government and I was on his health insurance plan paid for mostly by the government. I went to the doctor and hospital a couple of times. I don't believe anyone has suggested that military families shouldn't get healthcare.
Your title is just trying to bait people.
Even if his father wasn't in the military or on a private insurance plan, I'm for giving help to the truly disabled, especially children. But that doesn't Change the fact that a lot of people game the system and bankrupting ourselves to try to meet everyone's needs and desires will hurt everyone, ESPECIALLY the truly needy in the long run.
YAWN! The title wasn't baiting anyone. "Should the taxpayers keep paying the bill to keep this kid alive?" It's a legit question.
He was on Fox this morning and is trying to get hos kid government assistance. So yes, the kid will be paid for by the taxpayers under the SSA/Medicare/Medical/Medicaid or whatever it's called. He filled out the papers and they were lost so he refiled the papers once again because he (the dad) sad it was too costly to take care of him in his condition. So yes, the taxpayers are going to end up taking care of him.

Of COURSE Tenn does not like my thread title (or subject) Would the one HE likes fit in the subject line? No. Want me to change it? You bet.

Hope this one feels more honest to you guys, rather than a quote from the link in the OP.

It's all subjective.
Some shoot for shock value only, some copy/paste article titles, and some just shoot from the hip.
Personally I'd like to see a sub board where all the religion bashing (those articles that have nothing to do with either politics or the political impact on the markets) are kept so I can by pass them, so that they don't clutter the front page.

Is that the same title as it was originally? An expose was sent to Congress. While one interpreted as Congress acting on that expose being sent, others will not.
Are we (or the mods) really going to start censoring and word crafting for people so the message is delivered to their liking?
It is a legitimate question. The tax payers can't afford to continue to pay for endless medical bills for every unfortunate person that has a sob story. I feel bad for the kid, I feel bad for the father and I am thankful to him for serving his country but that can't be a reason for a blank check for this child / person but not another. Where do you stop?

Of COURSE Tenn does not like my thread title (or subject) Would the one HE likes fit in the subject line? No. Want me to change it? You bet. It has nothing to do if Tenn is this or that..his job , why he was even brought up here is beyond my comprehension, and the suggestion and the decision on the topic were given by the supreme leader. We all can continue to argue it, to me , not needed or better yet, dangerous. Why not headers to give a feeling of what the poster will post as their thoughts on the topic, usually accompanied by a link to a article that is then posted. Even a few paragraphs if article is a long one to give readers a idea of the article, and if a short article , then just post it..but to use headers to influence and to stir the emotions not needed or wanted. We use to have it on the old zone , provocative baiting headers, one we came from, it was stopped, for the better, so why continue that which was stopped there here? Not all here are really here for the drama, and some might feel intimidated to not post, not interested or willing to get into back and forth with others, just would like to express their opinions, and see the response of others. Provocative headers really not needed, and when headers are put up to stir emotions, it's done deliberately. If they weren't , it wasn't a problem , moon wouldn't have put up a thread addressing the problem. IMHO.

No, Dezi. Wrong. The decision to change the title was made by ME, not the moderators, after protest by Tenn/poster, which is why someone brought up his name here.

the one I changed was Kreepy's "Should the taxpayers keep paying the bill to keep this kid alive?" - because that was not the subject of the article.
the other one that i would have changed that i can think of was Ed's (i think) about gay history being taught in elementary school - because it was misleading in saying it WOULD be taught, not *might* be taught..
it's not so much about baiting as it is being HONEST about the subject. if you want to ask 'is this appropriate' or whatever, then that can be addressed in a subsequent post.. not in the title..

I mentioned Tenn because you did bring up his name in your post, though didn't mention you specifically, in general, nothing to argue about..didn't see how he was in the picture here, still don't , possible missing something, it was moons thread , her thoughts. "Of COURSE Tenn does not like my thread title (or subject) Would the one HE likes fit in the subject line? No. Want me to change it? You bet" "

Forget it, Dezi. I changed the thread title because Tenn thought it was misleading. I hope "Obama and Radicals" is more to his liking than "ACORN expose goes to Congress".

I was not the one that brought up my thread OR Tenn in this thread. Best to read the thread rather than zoom in on someone you do not like, maybe?

Best to read the thread rather than zoom in on someone you do not like, maybe? were back to the ' don't like again " I like you, I like you... I did read all the posts, no skimming, scrolling, and if you are referring to this post as one who brought up Tenn's NIC "Here's one where the Mod has an issue with the title." We have at least two mods here active , plus moon, the only post I saw specifically calling out a mod by NIC, Tenn in that case, was yours, posted above, and I didn't mention your NIC in my post. Still like you, but those are the facts.

Get the book that reveals the ongoing criminal enterprise known as ACORN. This book is so explosive, copies have been provided to all 535 members of the House and Senate in hopes of prompting further investigation of the subversive activity it exposes. (from the link in the OP) I wondered where the title of the thread came from. It is a great example of how to abuse truth. Any evidence that anyone there read the book? krickitt-your thread title suggests Congress is going to investigate ACORN. Can you post a current link to such a claim? If your thread had been titled "Book Exposing ACORN Sent To Congressional Members", I would not have an issue with the title. Hey, where's the love for me I ripped on the title 3 1/2 hours before Tenn... questioned it.

Where did my title suggest Congress was going to investigate ACORN?? The title was "ACORN expose goes to Congress". Best I could do in the space allotted. If YOU interpret that to mean I am IMPLYING Congress is going to investigate ACORN, well.... . I try to NOT be too inflammatory. I thought the title was low key. Actually I like "Obama and radicals" better. Thx for complaining.

What I do not understand is how Tennesseer came up with congress to investigate Acorn from, Acorn expose goes to Congress.

So in other words, we have to kizz your azz and please you and not be allowed to post what we like. The title I posted had everything to do with the kid in the article. Nothing wrong with the title. I personally could care less if he is the father of the year or not. I find it offensive that we now have a society that is telling everyone that one dad is better than the others. They used him as The Father of the Year to tell his kids story. I watched it on the news this morning at 6:AM and all he did was talk about his kid and getting state benefits for him, not his award. My focus was on the kid (that is on government benefits) since the dad has applied for them, and the taxpayers will be paying for this poor kids life in a bed for life. He won the Father of the Year award because they needed to bring this mans story to the headline news on Fox and other channels to get the kid some help. Pity votes. I feel bad for the dad, but for me, putting the kid gently to sleep is the best thing for him imo.

I understand the difference, as I said I posted what Tenn said for the subjective value, as a Mod he has the ability if he was inclined to change the title to what he would feel is appreciate. Moonbeam stated: "starting now, if one is seen, you will likely be asked to make your title something more appropriate. and if you choose not to, don't be surprised if it's done for you.. " Tennesseer said: "If your thread had been titled "Book Exposing ACORN Sent To Congressional Members", I would not have an issue with the title." which in and of itself could be inferred as a warning, again as I said in Reply #8 it is all subjective. the only time I have ever seen anyone post Mod/Admin is when a deletion takes place.

This would be an excellent example:
Big difference between singular and plural use of the word 'fire' in the title.
