If you aren't "indoctrinating " your children, you are not being a parent. That is your job. ... That is certainly one model of parenting. Another is to help a young human being that you have either brought into the world or into your life to find their own truth and path. To this statement I would have to ask, "Do you have children?" Their 'truth' changes with the wind and advanced age group.

Yes.Their 'truth' changes with the wind and advanced age group. And their working through all that is exactly why it is beneficial for a mentor, not a lecturer, to be with them for all of their youthful years.

I'm glad I "indoctrinated" my kids in the home young. Minor problems growing up, pretty good for raising 5 alone. Yep. I brainwashed them to do good things, be good people, and not break the law. Call it what you will. I didn't want to mentor a 16 YO in jail for selling pot. Rather just tell them right up front, pot is illegal, and if you get your butt in trouble don't expect ME to bail you out. Worked in my brood.

Worked in my brood. I also told my kids that pot was illegal and that was why I did not use it. I did not allow it in my house and did not associate with people that used it. When issues came up concerning it, I voiced my views in relationship to facing consequences of choices that individuals made. Further, I did not break other laws. I was never arrested, convicted, and sentenced for any crimes. My children have never been either so apparently modeling behavior worked for them.
