Strauss-Kahn's lawyers have challenged the maid's account, suggesting that any sexual encounter between the accuser and their client was consensual.
"The forensic evidence, we believe, will not be consistent with a forcible encounter," Benjamin Brafman, an attorney for Strauss-Kahn, said in court on Monday.

kreep- read some before you make stupid statements like....... How so? She enetered his room, he didn't invite her in, and then she makes these alligations after she calls her brother first.
Maybe we should close down hotels now to prevent this from ever happening again[/u][/i]
he knowingly put himself in this situation, or do you think every man is victim to a hard-on, and once it happens anything that takes place after an erection, they can not be held accountable for?
that was the drunk defense for a long time, until, stupid people decided it was not fun looking stupid.
kreep- you should review your position and 'check' yourself.

Real life isn't a television show- with respect to cameras, our expectations are often unrealistic. Of course businesses, like Sofitel, would like us all (especially their employees) to think there are cameras everywhere recording every move. The truth is that it just ain't so. If the cameras are real, and they're hooked up-- which is a crap shoot to start with-- they are not necessarily recording. Monitoring-- maybe, if someone's watching-- is not the same as recording. And finally, even if the cameras are hooked up, monitoring, and recording-- they don't necessarily automatically save. They may be set to record for a set period of time, erase, and record over.

If the respective claims are consensual sex vs. rape, he's guilty. It's really just that simple. If they have evidence of a sexual encounter, then his original story blows up, and hers gains a lot of credibility. Again, if you're doing what you're supposed to be doing, you can't be credibly accused of rape. He put himself in that position-- knowing he had enemies, even (highly suspiciously) bringing up the possibility that he would be accused of rape at some point by a woman paid off by his political rivals-- and he's going to be indicted and convicted if this is the case.

paul, a home owner might have 'fake' cameras that don't record........but no legit business in america, considering liability, would have 'fake' cameras.
there are not cameras inside the guest room, where a guest has an expectation of privacy. this incident took place inside the guest room.

He has a brilliant attorney according to the resident CNN attorney they send these legal questions to, not a flashy court room attorney but he is both.
Supposedly one who delves into the research, all the parts of the law as well as one who is brilliant in court, no one better, according to the CNN attorney, so expect a rigorous defense, and if there are any holes in the story, and screw ups at all by the authorities, any sleight not quite right results from the labs, any thing at all, that might shed some doubt in the story and the situation, expect it to be used.
We'll have to see won't we.

Gee, Maui, you haven't read the story. Read it. She said he came out and rand down the hallway and tackled her down and dragged her back to his bedroom bathroom. She calls her brother first (possible setup), before reporting it to the hotel management and security, and then lied about calling her brother.
Something about her and her brother's story isn't adding up. Why call the brother? Why not run to management and security or call 911 first since she is crying attempted rape, not rape.

YAWN! Read the original article when first reported. She said that he came running down the hallway and attacked her from his hotel room. She didn't say suite, she said Hotel Room and that he dragged her back into his room to the bedroom bathroom. Check your own comprehension skills there bud, because mine are just fine unlike yours. As we are all witnessing, he story keeps changing, hotel room, now a suite, she was attacked in the hallway, now it's in the bathroom... She's fumbled imo and will end up being deported along with her brother that set all this in motion.

Kreepy, I'm not going to argue with you again today. No need to keep going over this and repeat myself. I will keep an eye out here for any new news, though. Good luck, maui. It is good to see you men here not just assuming the maid lied when there is NO evidence of that from what we actually know so far.

If there was ANY sex at all, he's toast. Period. True, but that has not been established as of yet. All we have is a hotel maids word and that's pretty much it, and she has not really worded anything other than what her bloodsucking attorneys are reporting on. If he did rape her, he could have easily canceled his date with his daughter and fled the country. He didn't do that. He left the hotel, went to have lunch with his daughter, called the hotel to see if he had left his cell phone there, and then headed for the airport where he was standing in line with everyone else waiting to board. Sounds like a rapist to me. Ya think!

Someone PLEASE call me a prude and ridicule me just one more time for absolutely REFUSING to be alone in the company of a woman I'm not related to, or married to. I had a woman make a false claim that I had gotten her pregnant. Didn't like her (too ghetto) and never slept with the bytch either. Later it came out that it wasn't mine at all. White woman, colored kid, she had a hard time explaining that one. Also on 20/20, there was this deranged woman that put this man's name down on the birth certificate as being the father of her child, he was arrested for failure to pay child support. Lost his job, his wife and kids until an attorney paid for a dna test that proved he wasn't even the dad. Another 20/20 story where a woman went to a party and wanted to have sex with a man she had a crush on and he refused, she then pretended to have been raped and had this young man arrested for a rape that never took place. He spent many years in prison for a crime he didn't commit, and now she's behind bars. Finally some justice, but women can be lying and conniving people when they want to be.

True, but that has not been established as of yet. All we have is a hotel maids word and that's pretty much it,
we have a little more than that
in most cases, reports of crimes are investigated to determine probable cause. police, in most cases, can not make an arrest without probable cause.
probable cause in this case, gave the officers enough to pull a high level, political, person off of a plane, arrest, detain, arraign, refuse bail, and put on suicide watch. you can bet, these decisions were made by more than one person, which limits the chance for error here.
i am not saying he is guilty, but again.....HE put himself in this situation, and now has to 'sleep in the bed he made' ..so to speak

Can't wait for the attorneys to begin their presentations, prevarications, theory and spin. This is going to be a great view to the cutting edge application of law in this arena. This should be very educational and, touch upon many tenants of US law and international law. Get ready to learn. Hope we can post all the details and progress and invite expertise to render opinions and substance. This will be a great thread if it can really get the light on.

I agree nothing has been proven yet, but if there's evidence tying this man to a sexual encounter of any kind with the accuser, he's done.

I'm pretty certain that when you are in another country for work, whatever that may be, the rules of that country still apply to you. unless of course, you are an untouchable diplomat - which this guy was not.

PBP, women only see it one way, they don't see innocent when a woman cries rape. Too stupid I guess. If they spent more time researching how many women have falsely accused men of rape and other crimes, they would then possibly stfu, but I doubt it. I gave them three examples (20/20) on how women lie to destroy men and they refuse to address the truth, they seem to be just a bunch of bitter women that can't find a rich man to hang and cash in on for themselves it seems like. The man is innocent in the eyes of the law until proven to be guilty. To many fumbles made by this lying woman and her brother. The one she called first to report it to, and then lied about it. In the court of law, one lie can be reason to toss out anything that comes from this woman's mouth.
