The announcement by Democratic Sen. Herb Kohl that he won't seek a fifth term has set the Democrats further back in their hopes of keeping the Senate during next year's elections. Kohl is the fifth Democrat to retire after next year, or sixth if you count independent Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman, who caucuses with the Democrats. With Democrats defending 23 seats, and a short list of Democratic incumbents running in conservative and swing states, Republicans are seeing more and more opportunities to pick up some seats. The last time they controlled it, got us in the mess we are in now and we haven't been able to pull out of it.True, spending billions more didn't seem to work. Now we just owe more. I can't understand how that failed to reduce the debt.

patstab, your post kind of worries me because it seems sincerely afraid. I don't know where you get your info that makes you think Pubs want some kind of rich/Mexican squalor, but it is just not true. In case you somehow missed it, you have your libs living in high style, spending like maniacs, passing feel good laws that will NEVER work, like Obamacare, and essentially doing all they can to bring this country down. Republicans, IF they can actually get more conservatives in office, will actually work to fix things so people do NOT have to live in Mexican squalor, as you said, rather than continue on this path that is leading straight to just that.

The last thing they want is a full recovery. Go ahead and keep clinging to abortion and health care, keep pissing off people who work for a living, keep pissing off seniors, appease the fringe tea. You have no candidates, no platform, no solutions, no anything except the same old failed BS that got us here. People are wising up.
