Now Hiring: Walmart Seeks Spanish-Speaking Labor Buster To Maintain A ‘Union-Free Workplace’ As of April 2011, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate stands at around 9 percent, as millions of Americans are seeking work in any position they can find. One company that is hiring is Walmart, “one of the largest private employers in the U.S.” The company recently posted a job listing online for a director of “Labor Relations.” The job description requires helping the company’s human resources department maintain a “union-free” workplace. Under “Additional Preferred Qualifications,” the company seeks fluency in Spanish: Walmart is a company notorious for breaking up labor unions and has taken swift action to prevent its workers from organizing. In 2000, “when a small meatcutting department successfully organized a union at a Walmart store in Texas, Wal-Mart responded a week later by announcing the phase-out of its meatcutting departments entirely.” When a branch in Quebec, Canada, voted to unionize, the company immediately shut down the store. thinkprogress.org/2011/05/12/wal-mart-union-buster/

Lak, you sound like an uninformed liberal. Well, at least you're half right... Nope, I'm 100% correct. If working for WalMart is so terrible, why are there about 100 applications for every open position? <<Marshabar, you sound like a Walmart associate...>> You say that like it's a bad thing. Much better to be sucking off the teat of the working people and be on welfare, I'm sure.

BTW, the OP isn't about the workers - it's about the management.

Too funny. I drive by that place almost every weekend in the summer on my way to the lake. They use the parking lot as a test ground for motorcycle driver applicants. You just got to love it. Another Walmart closer to my main residence has been open for quite a while now. The message was received well it seems.

My guess is that the op is likely made up. Can't find it on snopes- but I also can't find it on any credible media source.

I'm not surprised that they'd do it-- I am surprised they are so blatant. They don't sugar coat it at all: commies need not apply.

Amen! Keep them commies out! Under fire in the United States for its employment practices, the world's largest retailer announced last year that it was overhauling its practices on pay, promotions, diversity and how cashiers are notified of their breaks. In 2003, Wal-Mart was accused of hiring illegal immigrants through a contractor and underpaying those employees. money.cnn.com/2005/02/09/news/international/walmart_canada/
