Newt Gingrich Was More Supportive Of Individual Mandates Than Mitt Romney WASHINGTON -- Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney (R) is set to defend his state's health care law from conservative critics in a high-profile speech on Thursday. But Romney is far from being the potential 2012 Republican presidential contender with the most politically problematic record on health care. That title likely belongs to former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.), who announced his White House aspirations a day prior to Romney's address. In his post-congressional life, Gingrich has been a vocal champion for mandated insurance coverage -- the very provision of President Obama's health care legislation that the Republican Party now decries as fundamentally unconstitutional. This mandate was hardly some little-discussed aspect of Gingrich's plan for health care reform. In the mid-2000s, he partnered with then-Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) to promote a centrist solution to fixing the nation's health care system. A July 22, 2005, Hotline article on one of the duo's events described the former speaker as endorsing not just state-based mandates (the linchpin of Romney's Massachusetts law) but "some federal mandates" as well. A New York Sun writeup of what appears to be the same event noted that "both politicians appeared to endorse proposals to require all individuals to have some form of health coverage." Roy Sekoff On Newt Gingrich's Marital History: 'It's Not The Cheat, It's The Hypocrisy' (VIDEO)HuffPost's Roy Sekoff appeared Thursday night on HLN's 'The Joy Behar Show' to discuss Newt Gingrich's marital history. Sekoff stated of Gingrich's past, "it's the old saying: it's not the cheat, it's the hypocrisy. Right, I mean that's the thing. It's the entirety of what he did. It's not just, oh that he had an affair, it's that he cheated on the first wife when she had cancer, and he left her and told her he wanted a divorce when she was in the hospital after one of her surgeries. And he broke up with the second wife on Mother's Day."Sekoff also said that focusing on these marital problems might even be a good thing for Gingrich because "it takes the focus off of all the other sleazy and problematic things that he's done before." The subject of Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels' marital past also came up in the conversation. Sekoff explained, "for him [Daniels], this is the most interesting thing you can say about Mitch Daniels. This is good for him. Otherwise you'd be talking about his days at the OMB." www.huffingtonpost.com/huff-tv/roy-sekoff-joy-behar-newt-gingrich-marriage_b_861417.html

Can Newt Gingrich overcome the Sleaze Factor Not only does Gingrich have lots of baggage from his personal and political life, he has continued since leaving congress to be involved with what I call, the Sleaze Factor. Well you would think that Gingrich would slow down a bit knowing that most people are on to him now. Well, think again. How about trying to cash in on Veteran's Day. It seems that this past Veteran's Day, Gingrich was trying to peddle his novels in what was suppose to be a tweet honoring Veterans. Here is another example of his trying to cash in on Veteran's Day: See link below. I wonder how many Sham wows Newt could peddle in a day? MarriagesGingrich has been married three times. In 1962, he married Jackie Battley, his former high school geometry teacher, when he was 19 years old and she was 26. In the spring of 1980, Gingrich left Battley after having an affair with Marianne Ginther. Six months after the divorce from Battley was final, Gingrich wed Marianne Ginther in 1981. In the mid-1990s, Gingrich began an affair with House of Representatives staffer Callista Bisek, who is 23 years his junior. They continued their affair during the Lewinsky scandal, when Gingrich was a leader of the Republican investigation of President Clinton for perjury in connection with his alleged affairs with Paula Jones and Monica Lewinsky. In 2000, Gingrich married Bisek shortly after his divorce from second wife Ginther. He and Callista currently live in McLean, Virginia. In a 2011 interview with David Brody of the Christian Broadcasting Network Gingrich addressed his past infidelities by saying, "There's no question at times in my life, partially driven by how passionately I felt about this country, that I worked too hard and things happened in my life that were not appropriate." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newt_GingrichSooo, little Newtie blames his sleazy past on working too hard. Well, he apparently found time to sharpen his little pencil on numerous occasions. These are just the women we know about. There may be more forthcoming.
