I am currently on Cobra and due to run out 3 months prior to Medicare in July 2012. I have been looking at short term insurance to save on the premiums I currently pay to Cobra. I found several choices that are cheaper. The lowest has a very high deductable and I could only get it for 6 months and then apply for another 6 months. If they deny the second 6 months because I get sick during first 6 months, then I would be up a creek. This policy is about half Cobra. I just changed my car insurance to save money and now I'm trying to save more. Any body buy short term health insurance before?

Yes I have...I believe I used Assurant as well. I was 30 at the time and it cost me about $100/month for a $2500 deductible 100% plan (they pay 100% after the deductible is met up to $1M or $2M)
I had that for about a year while I worked as a temp-to-hire, and took another 3 months (as I waited for my employer insurance to kick in). I believe the price stayed the same as I extended it, but can't remember anymore.
