As a reminder to my conservative and Republican friends-- you can't have a police state without...police. video.foxbusiness.com/v/4657141One of the problems with big government is too many government employees with too much time on their hands. And that includes police. We have too many, most of them do a great job, but even so-called "innocent" police officers are part of a system that is set up in large part to harass and fine citizens (generate revenue, keep "order" which means people don't do ANYTHING, ever) and restoring liberty and a rebuilding a civil society means fewer ticky-tack fouls being called, and that necessarily means fewer police. To that end, I think pressure needs to be brought to bear and we must maintain our right to record the deeds of public officials in public view-- at the very least. At 6:19 and 7:19 we see clear examples of police abuse of power, where citizens were charged-- until video evidence cleared them. video.foxbusiness.com/v/4657141"Until now, until people had these video cameras in their pockets, the police narrative was the official version of events" I think it's high time citizens started patrolling and watching the watchers.

Agree. A cop should never do anything that can't be filmed, and it is wrong for it to be illegal, at least in some places. I can see ways it could be abused, though. In AZ a border activist group has started filming police stops on Mexican looking people. Without complete and accurate audio and video, they can then go to court and say that the cop-- who is alone and has no witness, is harassing someone because they are brown. People DO lie, especially if it is to save their own backside. In clear cut cases of cops messing up it will work, but there is a lot of gray zone there, too.

What is contained on them can be used against you, but the police have no obligation to use it to exhonerate you.

I would have thought that it would have to be provided if requested by your lawyer? Is that not true?

It is called Brady material if it exonnerates you and they have to provide it- but apparently the scotus thinks you can be incompetent and not be held liable- even if you almost kill a defendant. Go right wing!
