Don't we all wish we could do that at times when on vacation..but due to pre arrangd fleights, alas, we have to go when we really want to extend a bit. Maybe I will throw my hat in the ring for the next one..I know I'll get the support of just about all here right? ;D

A simple example of how of touch politicians are with reality. Granted, at any given point in time we are going to have people out of work, struggling and desperate. However, today is more significant when considering this kind of behavior. The dire economic situation with the entire US economy on the verge of the unknown and the leader stretching out a few more days on vacation in Hawaii. A total slap in the face to people looking to pay the next bill and a clear indication that real change is needed and if not possible by ballot then at some point will be forced.

With all his "vacations" one would think everything here was just hunky-dory. Doesn't he realize that this country is bankrupt? And I'm sure this cost estimate is based on the original itinerary... you know that whenever you change your travel plans it gets way more expensive. ****************************************** * Mrs. Obama’s early flight to Hawaii: $63,000 (White House Dossier) * Obama’s round trip flight to Hawaii: $1 million (GAO estimates) * Housing in beachfront homes for Secret Service and Seals in Kailua ($1,200 a day for 14 days): $16,800 * Costs for White House staff staying at Moana Hotel: $134,400 ($400 per day for 24 staff) – excluding meals and other room costs * Police overtime: $250,000 (2009 costs reported by Honolulu Police Department) * Ambulance: $10,000 (City Spokesperson) TOTAL COST: $1,474,200 washingtonexaminer.com/blogs/beltway-confidential/2010/12/president-and-family-multi-million-dollar-christmas-vacation-hawa

The perks are pretty good when one becomes the most powerful man in the world.

Yes, they are, and when the most powerful man in the world only gets paid $400k/year I say enjoy the perks.
George W. Bush sure did during his 1020 vacation days.
I can't wait for some clown to say: Yeah, but President Bush was on working vacations...

But they were in more easily secured locations and in the continental US.

Hee hee hee... are you a birther? Hey, Hawaii is cheaper than Kenya, right?
President Obama is probably on a working vacation doing legal research to get his birth records in order for the birthers and the upcoming House investigations.

Would you deny him the right to spend time where he grew up? It is not his fault that is where he was born. It's not as if the man was born in Virginia.

Back to it again , as if a extra day or a vacation is going to make a difference in what you call such terrible times brought on by his predessessor..such a bad hand left him , he , in fact anyone who is sane, to keep that sanity, , needs time off to keep them selves sane and what better way then the Pacific waters and the beaches of Hawaii, more power to him. You are so irrelevant and your post, so nonsensecal...bleating in the wind as they always are.. , best looked at as passed air , and given as much attention as a temporary f and after the quick unpleasantness ...

There is no ENEMY man..there are differences , problems to be solved , thus discussed, but you refuse to discuss them in a rational way. Just the same old from the other zone and continuing it here ...the same schlock, and your posts are not the 'true word', at most a feeling on your part . But when the feeling extends to every inch of the man and his followers, with no logic and thought behind them, then they beg for intervention.
Example above , a vacation in Hawaii and your claims, how can one ignore such schlock.?
Possible we will continue to have the silly ness here that we had over at the other zone, but I am hoping we can do better then that.
Still have fun and humorous disses , yes , but also serious discussions on the many problems and disagreements on people and policies , but not the stupidity that has been constantly rampant on the old boards.
We continue that and we will lose good new people , know some already , disillusioned, who will spot these threads for what they are, more of the same, the old. They want more thus they leave or contribute little, spend little time here.
I think there is good possibilities here. By the luck of the draw we had some one at the old zone, who took the time to set this up for us, better then before in fact,. In a short time too with improvements every day, moderators to control us against ourselves and actually she never posted in the Political from what I was told but she brought it along too. The political, and all its problems and in turn us along with it to a new place.
If you think about it, better she left political off the board. Of all the threads , that is the one that is being so time consuming , For the most part the others , EE, Money, Financial and so many others, very few problems. Some are even self moderated, can you believe that. When you think about it, what the hell did she need political and all its baggage along for.
Why not help her make it a success. You stay as you have been with the schlock, the same old, same old, and being joined by a few others with the same idea, then all her work will be in vain. Makes no sense to me.
