Another bad decision by Obama.... like Kevin Jennings for school czar. He just does not think like a POTUS. I'll karmalize you soon, krickitt. Just exalted Ed for posting this story. Exactly right. Obama does not think like a president. Or an American for that matter. Oh and I also reported Steff for that "finally seeing krick for what she is dig." So I'll expect to get shat on soon.

"sing about dis-respecting women"
"The song speaks on the direction that hip hop music was taking during the late 1980s and early 1990s. It specifically refers to the fall of conscious and Afrocentric rap; as well as the rising popularity of West Coast hip hop and G-funk. In the song, Common makes an analogy comparing the degradation of a woman with the deterioration of hip hop music after its commercial success forced it into the mainstream."

Seriously understand what he is saying the culture and what spoken word is then come back here and spout your incredible ignorance.

The youtube thing was a spoken word poem. The form is often political and this one uses many literary devices such as speaking in patois, use of metaphor, juxtaposition, reference to many types of violence in society.
The person who can listen **in context** and say that he's advocating violence, cop-killing, and setting president Bush on fire is delusional. Now, you may not like political rap/poetry such as this; that is your right. But don't lie about it.

Thank you steff and gsbrq you said it better and more polite than I could. This is the kind of stuff that makes me sick when I come to this board, I cannot listen to the closed minds of so many people before I want to scream.

So you are for censorship then krick... good to know... Look up the definition of censorship and you will see that Krickett called for nothing of the sort. I tell you, the lefties here get more pathetic each day.

Now, you may not like political rap/poetry such as this;
Poetry? You disgrace all real poets in the world. Take a look at the ones who follow this crap and stuff like it. Outstanding citizens. Now if you want real rap/poetry, try eminem.

I watched the video. I heard what he said. I'm through with this thread now. I don't hang out with people that think it is okay to threaten cops and say to hang a POTUS.

Shocker. dailycaller.com/2011/05/09/burn-a-bush-michelle-obama-invites-rapper-common-to-a-poetry-reading/First Lady Michelle Obama has scheduled a poetry evening for Wednesday, and she’s invited several poets, including a successful Chicago poet and rapper, Lonnie Rashid Lynn, Jr., AKA “Common.” However, Lynn is quite controversial, in part because his poetry includes threats to shoot police and at least one passage calling for the “burn[ing]” of then-President George W. Bush. BTW, is this part of the civility that Barry supposedly wants in politics?

Did the Beach Boys sing about dis-respecting women, street gangs, extreme violence with possesion of guns, getting high on hard drugs or drive by shootings? I don't think so. Not to my knowledge, but they were buddies with Charles Manson, so you never know. You must be very familiar with Common's music. Which songs are you referring to when you claim that he has done the above?

See, that's how I know you aren't even paying attention. The reference is to "burning a Bush" not hanging him. Bet you didn't catch the oil/middle east/religious references either, did you?

Is Markey Mark still performing? Or is he just doing the films now? ... Seriously though, burns, just because you don't like a kind or work of art doesn't mean it isn't legitimate. One of the first things they taught us in awarding arts based grants is to judge the merit of the project and not the appeal of the specific genre... a Heavy Metal festival, a Bagpipe festival, a Country Music Festival... none is inheretly better than the other... (etc.)

You're damn right. He thinks like a Hyde Park whack job from Chicago, because he IS. He not only heard every single solitary word the Reverend Jeremiah Wright preached, he hung on every word. He wasn't influenced, or friends with Wright, they are kindred spirits. Obama's book, "The Audacity of Hope" is named after a Jeremiah Wright sermon (did you libs know that?) and here's that sermon: sweetness-light.com/archive/wrights-sermon-the-audacity-to-hopeThis is straight from the inner workings of Obama's head. This is his reality- this drives his insatiable need to redistribute wealth-- not merely from one American to another, but from America to the rest of the world. He feels the way to make the world a better place is to punish (especially white) westerners for having too much by taking it and giving it to those who don't have anything-- all ostensibly because we have exploited the rest of the world. From Obama's book "Dreams...", Obama writes, (page 293) what passages of this speech most inspired him, including: As an aside...
