Has anyone successfully used this for weight loss and toning?
What were the results? Do you think it was easy to understand the excercises?
Our family gift this Christmas was a Wii, and I may consider getting the Wii Fit and Balance board, but of course I am interested in feedback.

I don't have a WII, but know several who do- they all offered to give me their WII Fit if I ever get the system. No one likes it. I want to get WII for the MJ dance game....or Kinect for XBox. The Dance Party games are a huge hit with everyone and gives a great workout.

Did anyone ever tell you why they did not like it?

Nothing other than "it sucks". I think they gave up on it or got bored as people tend to do with any fitness routine.

I have a week before school starts, and really at that point I will only have 20-30 minutes in the morning to do this, and doing so would definitely eliminate my coffee time with EE in the morning. It would be so much more convenient (and cheaper) to do in the morning at home rather than running to a gym.
It would be nice to get into a morning routine before school starts. I really need some kind of exercise.

I still use the Wii Fit, especially the yoga training. We've had it for years. Don't know if it helps with weight loss. The kids got bored with Wii Fit quickly, but use it for other games. I think it was worth the cost.

Cheesy, I like it, but Wii Fit Plus is better. The original only let you pick one exercise at a time so you wasted at least 15 total minutes choosing your exercises. The Plus version has an option for you to create a customized workout that includes yoga poses and strength exercises. There's also a few good cardio exercises, like hula hooping, boxing, step aerobics, and jogging.

I was definitely considering the Plus, Jen after reading the differences on the Nintendo website.

I have had a Wii board with Wii Fit Plus since last November, so over a year. I enjoy it very much. I enjoy it very much. It's one of those things you have to use for it to be effective. It is not great for serious cardio, but that--to me--is pretty obvious. I use it to help me be accountable with weighing-in. I'd already done yoga for a while before getting Wii Fit, so I didn't have learn yoga from the Wii Fit. I can see how that would be challenging. I find it easier to yoga with the Wii because it keeps time for me. The aerobics games can be fun; some involve math problems, which is great for my kids, especially during the rainy season! I don't have a terribly good sense of rythym, and the Wii is constantly reminding me of that. I've found it to be worth the $90. HTH! Happy New Year!

Had you ever done yoga before using the Wii Fit, LA? Yes, I had used videos. I like this better because it's more interactive and the lady tells you "good job." LOL, I need that encouragement.

Thanks for your input Chloe! I am interested in the yoga, but had a bad experience in an actual class, so kind of turned me off to a class experience.

Oh yes, I'd definitely get the Plus version again; I don't think the original is worth it. I, too, like my custom routine.

Does anyone use the fitness mat, or does any kind of mat work? Is the Wii mat tied to the balance board electronically?

No mat here. Just a crappy blanket.

I have a pilates mat so I don't have the Wii mat. I think it's to do the poses that don't require the balance board. Yoga poses need to be done on a soft surface, and a mat is preferred.

Does the program do a good job of walking through the exercises? A big question for me is whether there is dialogue. I emailed Nintendo asking whether there is a captioning capability for the Wii software.

Cheesy they do walk you through the workouts for the first time. They do speak, but there is also text.
