U.S. Drone Strike in Yemen Reportedly Was Aimed at Radical Cleric Seen as Post-Bin Laden Threat Published May 06, 2011 |The U.S., fresh off a successful raid this week in Pakistan that killed Al Qaeda leader Usama bin Laden, reportedly took a shot at one of Al Qaeda's other more prominent figures just days later. A U.S. drone strike in Yemen on Thursday was aimed at killing Anwar al-Awlaki, the American-born radical cleric who is suspected of orchestrating terrorist attacks on the U.S, but the missile missed its target, Yemeni and U.S. officials told the Wall Street Journal. The drone strike comes after U.S. Navy SEALs killed Usama bin Laden at a compound in Pakistan. Had the drone strike in Yemen been successful, the U.S. would have killed two of the top three most-wanted terrorists in a single week. Awlaki has emerged as the charismatic frontman of an Al Qaeda branch based in Yemen, which the U.S. considers the most active terror group in the world. With bin Laden's death, some officials believe Awlaki and his group now represents the gravest threat to the U.S. White House and Pentagon officials declined to comment on any strikes in Yemen. Awlaki, a U.S.-born radical cleric, has been on the national security radar for nearly a year and is the first American on the CIA’s kill or capture list. Now believed to be hiding in Yemen, Awlaki is part of the new breed of digital jihadists who use the Internet to inspire their followers to launch lone-wolf or small-cell attacks that are nearly impossible for law enforcement to prevent. Fox News' Catherine Herridge and the Wall Street Journal contributed to this report. www.foxnews.com/world/2011/05/06/drone-strike-yemen-reportedly-aimed-radical-cleric-seen-post-bin-laden-threat/

Can't send a machine to do a SEAL's work, I guess. So-- are we going to take them all down now?

Yeah, Henry. This guy needs to die. I've read a lot about him. He is not only the attacks we know about like Hassan and panty bomber stuff, but is running the US prison recruiting, lots of stuff here in the US. Also read today, too tired to look for story-- that Hezbollah is getting really strong in Mexico, responsible for all the fancy drug tunnels, holding hands with the cartels-- shipping money back to Lebanon. They have been crossing the border for years, but are apparently getting stronger... People tend to not take me seriously when I tell them about Border Patrol finding Koran, prayer rugs, etc. abandoned in the desert. It's real, and getting ready to get REAL real, I bet. SEALs for them all, IMO.

There should be no doubt in anyone's mind that Washington has really let the country down by the way the border has not been attended to. And is still not being attended to.
I once took a friend from Boston for a sort of drive around tour of Culberson County, Texas. Loving county is just east of there. and with only 80 people in the county at that time, didn't even have a school. I'll never forget, we had been out about two hours and he asked something like "Where do the caretakers live that look after the land?"
It is impossible for people to understand what open country means, even after they've seen it. It's just miles and miles of more miles and miles between cafes and motels going from one air conditiioned crowded place to another.
Too, it was several years ago now, but I read about a bad derailment somewhere in either southern New Mexico or Arizona that they never figured out whp caused it. I have wondered over the last teb year how long it would take for the islamic radicals to find out just how vulnerable our roads and railroad infrastructure really is. I gather from what I have heard about the stuff they found Obama was working on that the secret is no longer a secret.
So, maybe there willl be a build up of something akin to real concern devoted to the southwest in the coming months. I know ou hope so.
But first, somebody is going to have to draw Obama's attention away from his damd golf shoes. His attention span for leadership responsibilities is a showcase example of hardcore ADHD.

Agree, Henry, but I don't think anything is going to be done about the border. I posted proof last week about how Jan Nap is fudging the numbers, just like they do all the numbers we see. We have some really unholy alliances with Mexico, and I am not at all surprised to know gov't is aware that Hezbollah is creeping across our borders and nothing is being done.
Remember a few years ago when the beheadings in Mexico started, when the violence started to get out of control, making Mexico a country Americans can no longer drive to and have a cerveza and watch the little barefoot kids playing in the streets?? Everybody is used to the beheadings now, but I can tell you from living along the border for 55 years that cutting people's heads off is NOT a Mexican thing. It REEKS of ME involvement and anyone that does not know that is not paying attention.
And let's not kid ourselves-- these people come here and are protected here. They have been here so long that we have at LEAST one generation of died in the wool American born Muslim extremists right here. That is fact. Just like the illegal Mexicans can't make it here without help, neither can the illegal Muslims. And they don't lie or pretend to like us. They want us DEAD. Organizations like CAIR cover for them, lie for them, and it says in the mission statements that lying to infidels to attain your goals is okay.
But no, no, no-- we are fine. Borders are fine... no problems here... they are PEACEFUL people... like the Amish or something.
