So, I'm watching Stossle (DVR) right now and he's on with Ann Coulter on a segment about "Freeloaders".
I'm learning that Michael Dell- yes, "that" Michael Dell, is a deer farmer. Who knew, right?
He likes to hunt and apparently he puts out feed for deer and this makes him the purveyor of a "well managed deer herd" instead of paying taxes on land valued at $71.4 million dollars, he pays taxes on a reduced assessment of just $290K which costs Houston taxpayers $1.2 million. Talk about tax cuts for the wealthy...
I gotta get me some deer feed...

As a Texan, I see nothing wrong with this. For instance, I’m unable to use my swimming pool until June because I allow Mallard ducks to use it for raising young ducklings. Therefore, my pool and backyard is part of a wildlife preserve sanctioned by Ducks Unlimited. You should remember people with money will supply the future jobs for Americans and we should be allowed to take advantage of all legal tax shelters. Isn’t this what conservatism and capitalism is all about.

Isn’t this what conservatism and capitalism is all about. Conservatives have never been about a 10,000 page tax code that gives power to politicians in Washington to dole out favors and handouts for the rich friends. That's pretty much the definition of liberalism. Do conservatives like well-known New Jersey rancher, Steve Forbes, take advantage? Sure. And why shouldn't we-- we're carrying the rest of the country. But I'd rather see Steve Forbe's Flat Tax or even better, the www.fairtax.org

A beautiful swimming pool - YES This one’s a great example of lateral thinking. After being told by his doctor that he needed to exercise (after developing emphysema), the smart fella put in a swimming pool. The deduction was put down as a necessary MEDICAL EXPENSE and was allowed, along with the various chemicals, heating, cleaning and general upkeep of the pool. Now that’s using your head.
A Trip to Bermuda – YES, YES, YES I love this one. I have to find a way to do it. ANY business convention held in Bermuda can be written off without even showing there was a special reason to hold your business meeting in paradise. And it’s not the only place. Barbados, Costa Rica, Dominica, the Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guyana, Honduras, Jamaica, Saint Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago, Canada, Mexico and all U.S. possessions also fall into this special tax treatment.

This is very common; I was on two Bahamas cruises completely free this includes all transportation. We had our welcome drinks after boarding and a 4-hour meeting that followed. The rest of the week was all play. I was only a lowly truck driver at the time. One-week vacation in Jackson Hole and one week in Las Vegas. I was considering opening a Bail Bond agency for that one.

I love your ducks. I love ducks in general. I even like rubber ducks! Around here, we get lots of ducks and Canada geese in our parks, ponding basins and along the agriculture canals ~ and we like to feed them.

Isn’t this what conservatism and capitalism is all about. The reason for the smiley face is the part that my backyard is a wildlife preserve is not true. I just wanted to point out the lunacy of the right thinking it’s acceptable practice for the rich not to pay local property tax. This is not federal tax but taxes that support our schools, fire departments and the police. I was paying almost $7000 in property tax that has now been reduced to around $6000.

There are American Avocets on our pond now. Last year we had white pelicans. There are always gray heron and various ducks. Wonderful to watch through the seasons. Their heads are peachy colored during the breeding season.
