Cantor: Obama 'Excoriated' Republicans' Medicare PlanHouse Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) obliquely conceded that the House GOP plan to overhaul Medicare is off the table, but he said blamed President Obama and Democrats, and accused them of having no plan of their own to offer in its place. No worse than H. Clinton's imaginary Bosnian sniper

The Reps have to get in touch! Enough of this crap already. Work on bills that actually have a chance.

Well, here we go again. Another liberal in denial that one way or another, Medicare has already ended. We don't know the precise date, but anyone that can fog a mirror knows that Medicare is a dead end program on its current path.
So, if you're celebrating the fact that Speaker Boehner is a weak leader in a long tradition of weak leaders in both parties that is willing to kick the can down the road- then go ahead and have your cake and Kool-Aid.
Just know that Medicare will not be there for anyone if politicians are successful in allowing the program to go bankrupt, fail, and take the United States down with it.
Now, I realize that Lak gets a little tingly up the leg at the thought of the United States going down the tubes, but for the rest of us- and even the few of you center-left types who would actually like to preserve Medicare & the Republic...I wouldn't get too excited about this.
I'm actually optimistic that the truth has set in with enough people now, or will set in with enough people that the Congress will be swayed and reluctantly do the right thing.
If not, there's really no point in discussing any of this. This is a pass-fail fiscal decision. It's reform, or die time.

Privatizing medicare would not save one thin dime. Cutting the benefits would, but no politician will sell it that way.

I would be really ticked off if I were 50. Kinda late to start over. That said, a single payer plan is about what is needed to bring prices down. "Here, this is all the job is worth." Business does that all the time, so should the govt.

Isn't it kind of ironic that Paul Ryan helped push the medicare drug bill that says medicare can't negotiate prices with drug companies?
