That doesn't change the essential truth of the comment. HEY! This is my reply #666. Look out!

Good Lord Tex, don't you read anything. I didn't say they voted here. I said [at least implied] that it made international relations with Muslim countries easier for him. That can affect the image voters have of Obama's effectiveness in foreign affairs.

So, how will OBL's death affect the 2012 election?
I think it is too soon to measure.
To those who vote their views on war, it will bolster their reason to vote for Obama. But how many people vote their views on war?
I believe there are more people who vote their views on foreign policy than on war, and in that area of politics Obama comes up way, way, short.
Besides, bin Laden's followers may have something to say about whether Obama gets a prolonged boost out of terminationg bin Laden's reign. The next guy may not be as capable as was bin Laden, and a firestorm of radical reactions may be in the making.
Sooooo, , , , , , it's too soon to tell.

Just something to read for those who don't listen.

It's hard to say, this far out, what sort of impact the death of OBL will have on the 2012 Presidential Elections.
Last night on our local news, they asked a half-dozen people at the Mall (all appeared to be voting age, by the way) who Osama Bin Laden was. One person knew. One person thought he was the President. Four people had entertaining answers showing that they had no idea who he is (unless he's a Major League Baseball player.)

Obama's popularity took a nice jump from the last few days
But....we are a LONG way from November 2012
A lot of things can and will happen.....and i think it highly unlikely that Osama's demise will be a huge event come election time
Now....the price of food and gas come November 2012 is a whole different story
And if the republicans cant find a better candidate than Trump, President Obama will be in great shape for reelection
Right now....i dont see a GREAT candidate.....for either party.....but i still have HOPE that someone emerges

It must have just killed Obama that he really needed to get Bin Laden now, and could not hold off for just one more year. I will never, EVER vote for Obama, but I can at least give him credit for that, even though he did pick a really politically advantageous time to take OBL down. I see Mama Obama in Africa is under 24/7 security guard since Bin Laden-- hmm, no birthers getting in there, no way. How very convenient...

President Obama hasn't (& won't) make a name for himself in foreign affairs because he's just not good at it. As for your comment I guess I miss read it.

Not even if Ron Paul runs as an independent? I wouldn't think 19% but maybe 5%, or enough to get Obama over the hump?

There will be happenings to come and go, people have short memories. It will still hinge on the economy in 2012.

Most of you will not believe this, but until the republicans have a serious candidate that can take the party more center and away from the crazies they will not have a chance to win. What may sound good here on this board alienates most independent voters. The likes of Palin, Trump and Bachmann will actually hurt the party in the end. Any republican candidate can get 35% of the base, however only a select few can win and none will be tea party affiliates. Bin Laden will be forgotten by election time; however, Obama has shown some strong leadership in the eyes of the independent voter.

If this is Obama's campaign strategy, he might want to revise it...

That's because they are SO scared-- just hoping it will be one of the above. They SHOULD be scared.

Fortunately for the Democrats, Bill Clinton never got the memo and he won. What I'm trying to point out here is that this is going to be about Obama. The Republican that recognizes the fact he is the weakest political candidate since LBJ, but who doesn't have the sense not to run again...will beat him.

Two thirds of people who searched “who is Osama bin Laden” on Sunday turned out to be teenagers: Teens ages 13-17 were seeking more information as they made up 66% of searches for “who is osama bin laden?” More from the Yahoo report: According to Yahoo!, The Top Searched Questions on Osama bin Laden are (based on Sunday, 5/1): Is Osama bin Laden dead? How did Osama bin Laden die? Who killed Osama bin Laden? How old is Osama bin Laden Who is Osama bin Laden Where was Osama bin Laden killed? Is Osama bin Laden dead or alive? How tall is Osama bin Laden? Younger Generation. News of Osama bin Laden’s death seemed to have struck a chord with younger folks who grew up during the war on terrorism. - On Yahoo!, 1 in 3 searches for “how did osama bin laden die” on Sunday were from teens ages 13-17. - According to Yahoo!, 40% of searches on Sunday for “who killed osama bin laden” were from people ages 13-20. - However, it seems teens ages 13-17 were seeking more information as they made up 66% of searches for “who is osama bin laden?” **and, yes, they are watching us on the internet.**

Yeah it's not like there haven't been any batshit crazy legislation coming out since 2008, the decomrats have been perfectly reasonable.....
Check your facts, the hard left wingers like peolosi are just as crazy as anything the tea party can cook up. That's all elections are about these days, choosing the lesser or two evil extremes. The democrats lost big in 2010 precisely because they have been acting crazy.

"TEENS DON’T KNOW WHO OBL IS"
I find this unsurprising. They were probably in grammer school when 9/11 happened and weren't old enough to really know or care what was going on. I was in first grade when deasert storm happened and all I know is from what I read in history books.
I was 16 when the 9/11 attacks occured. I was old enough to remember them, and probably one of the youngest who will be able to accurately recall the day as time goes on.

I bet you do, phoenix. I was driving a school bus on 9/11, all levels of kids. The were VERY affected. I'll never forget how those kids were for a few days after. Teens were kind of quiet, wearing black armbands-- the little ones just cried and cried for days.

I am counting on one of those folks emerging from the primary campaign as a winner. So dezi.....you'd rather see one of them simply so Obama can win rather than somebody that might actually be better for the country (better than the three stooges anyway) like Gary Johnson? ETA: I was going to say I hope you get your wish and they actually beat Obama but then I couldn't do it with a straight face.

Like Rush said, you can't put Osama blood in your gas tank. It's the gas tank.
My husband has a bumper sticker that reads, "You like high gas prices? Thank a Democrat." He gets constant thumbs ups and comments. People walk across a parking lot to talk to him about it.

I remember I had just started my current job here the month before when I heard a plane hit one of the towers. I was thinking a plane...ok, a cessna, piper, you know...a plane...hit the tower, because, well, them big, tall buildings are hard to see and come out of nowhere like that. I had just gone in to my bosses office, since he has a TV in there, to find out what all the fuss was and got one hell of a reality check.

Yeah, It's so odd the clairty and details I remember that day. I even remember the short story we were reading in literature class before we learned. Ironically it was Young Goodman Brown, a story about a man who loses his faith. The sophomores were taking ISTEP (indiana standardized testing) at the time and they were not allowed to watch the news because it would interfere with their testing. We were required to be under teacher supversiion, so we ate our lunches in the classroom while we watched the news.

We had parents screaming for their children, and sent out buses to all the schools to return the kids home. Most of them went home. Horrifying day, and all the ones that followed.

Okay, it's Wednesday Night Argument Fight! Two contradicting Conservative arguments come in and one may leave: In this corner, Obama has control over gas prices: In this corner not even gas companies themselves have control over the prices: "This is irrelevant once you understand that the margin on US gasoline sales are about 1-2%." notmsnmoney.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=politics&action=display&thread=7360&page=2And if gas companies have little control of the prices, how could Obama? Also consider how much Conservatives hate governmental interference of the free market. So who wins? Fix'd.
