Would anyone willing to share their Excel spreadsheet with me? DH agreed last night that I should see if anyone here is willing to share as the one he created could use some serious help.
You can pm me for an email address or just attach to this thread, which is probably the better option because I may not be the only one looking for a better spreadsheet. ;D
Thank you! Beth

I use YNAB. It cost $60, and there's kind of a learning curve, but the best money I ever spent. I have tried tons of excel spreadsheets that people have created and nothing is nearly as slick for budgetting as it is. www.ynab.comMy budget is really tight and I have to know where every dollar is, and have sinking funds for many categories because there just isn't the income to cash flow unexpected expenses. This has been a godsend for me!

I also wouldn't mind any critiques of the above budget, if anyone has any. I'm always looking to improve it

What are you looking for your budget spreadsheets to do? I have a whole suite of them - checkbook/planning sheet, budget categories, historical data, debt pay downs, etc. I'm more than happy to share (I've shared with many of the WIR ladies), just want to make sure that I've got what you're looking for.

I'm working on a budget with my daughter on texthog.com. It's convenient in that you just text your transactions to the site (ex. groceries, 50.00) and it stores them in a database for you instead of having to hang onto receipts or keep a notebook. You can also enter transactions online. I like that either one of us can log in and see the activity and add/edit it from any computer and it seems to be easy to categorize things and view in reports. You can also download it to excel.
I use Mint to analyze my credit card and checkbook transactions, but this is nice if you need to track cash.

I'm checking with DH on this question. My gut says the checkbook/planning sheet but I suspect he'll have different thoughts on this. He's got my login and password and I'm hoping he'll pop in and answer.

You can also go to the site and type the expenses in manually, you don't actually have to text, that's just a nice feature. It's just free budgeting software that stores your information in an online database.

Here is my version of excel budget. I use a budget just to make sure of spending, and then I use my own version of a tracking / balancing / forecasting tool for account management. This allows me to see out x months and determine if my budget to actual is working.
