I just read this article in the Sunday NYTimes about Marine Le Pen, the new head of the National Front Party in France. Quote from the article: "In France, we often say the U.S. is a multicultural society, but it's not, it's multi-ethnic, but one single culture. I don't say that nobody should enter our country. On the contrary, in the old days immigrants enter France and blended in, they adapt French language and traditions. Whereas now entire communities set themselves up within France, governed by their own codes and traditions." Now with OBL dead and Qaddafi possibly planning terror attacks, I would say that they should probably avoid hitting France, because she is getting more and more popular. If she does win, look for a possible mass deportation of Muslims from that country. Maybe some don't agree with that, but does France have a right to say who can, and cannot live there? Or is that up to the EU? Article: "Marine Le Pen, France's (kindler, gentler) Extremist" www.nytimes.com/2011/05/01/magazine/mag-01LePen-t.html?ref=magazine Here's another article about the Muslim issue that Europe is facing, it was written by a Spaniard. It is very pro Jewish and very anti Muslim. "All European Life Died In Auschwitz" www.science.co.il/Arab-Israeli-conflict/Articles/rodriguez-2005-09-23.asp

secret to her success, however, may be in her adroit scrambling of traditional leftist and rightist positions. Signaling a clear break from her father and the right in general, she has come out with a detailed critique of capitalism and a position promoting the state as the protector of ordinary people. “For a long time, the National Front upheld the idea that the state always does things more expensively and less well than the private sector,” she told me. “But I’m convinced that’s not true. The reason is the inevitable quest for profitability, which is inherent in the private sector. There are certain domains which are so vital to the well-being of citizens that they must at all costs be kept out of the private sector and the law of supply and demand.” The government, therefore, should be entrusted with health care, education, transportation, banking and energy.
Well, she might take over the right...

If that's a real quote- that sums up my opinion of what our own governing philosophy on immigration should be. You don't get to come here and set up shop as a nation within a nation.

THAT"S like saying, this is NOT a third world country Vive la France! Why is believing we should nuke people who want to nuke us, nuts? Why is believing we should use overwhelming force against those who would attack us and kill us by the thousands, nuts? Was Harry Truman nuts?

When you have real French citizens not being able to walk through certain neighborhoods with a bottle of wine then you have a problem. As was pointed out, you cannot expect to immigrate to any country and set up shop as if you were in the country you left. Leave your nonconforming customs where they belong. If not then expect at some point to be a target and ultimately forced out.

You are firstly supposed to be capable of speaking either english or french. Our (newly elected to a majority last night) Conservative government recently put much more emphasis on skilled immigrants and is closing down the "Family Class" category where immigrants were frequently bringing in their old sick parents, a huge strain on the public health system. Having a good amount of dough up front always helps. All in all it is pretty hard actually.
Apparently we have many millions of applications waiting to be processed. A newly upgraded computerized immigration processing system (which the esteemed Mr. fiscan worked on personally) is supposed to help with the backlog. I suggested simply running the applications under a printing press with the single word etched <DENIED>

Vive Le Pen. There's a lot to be said for plain speaking.
Europe goes around pretending those people aren't cutting their throats. What? Oh no! It's fine! Carry on. . . ;D
Refreshing to see someone is awake.

Try Vancouver. Kind of wet and if you are white you would just about be in the minority with all the Asian and East Indian immigrants but the climate is not harsh. High cost of living though.

Ok, I see what you need. How about Prince Edward Island. Low cost of living, winters not too bad, some of the best unspoiled beaches in the world and lily white.

Well, she might take over the right... Deziloooooo: Interesting if her party was one of the three in the final vote the other two parties would band together to defeat her party...I guess this has happened before. SD: I think that Le Pen is a very savvy politician who has done her homework. And I'm not saying that her father is not smart (and smart doesn't equal moral), but, he probably spent his years just trying to get out his message, pretty much realizing that he was not going to get the top prize. To me, she has just taken a page out of the Dick Morris/Bill Clinton playbook. Triangulation won Clinton a second term and may win Le Pen the presidency. And now with her abandoning the somewhat free market positions that her father held, will Sarkozy do a reversal on pension reform? I guess that she would probably demand that it be reversed - of course I don't know what her position is on it, but if she wants those blue collar civil servants to vote for her - then I would guess that she would support reversing it again. On the other hand, the socialists who came in second place the last time, I will guess, probably receive a lot of Muslim support because of their high unemployment rate, and I'm guessing that they get a lot of government handouts. And I just cannot see them making any deals with Sarkozy, because I have read that many on the left just don't like or trust him. So if the socialists do get alot of Muslim support, I also cannot see them making any deals with her, even if she does support the nanny state. So I think that Le Pen has triangulated and has put all her chips on the table. If she can get those anti Muslim blue collar civil servants that usually vote socialist, along with enough anti Muslim Sarkozy's supporters, and if he is unpopular (?), then maybe she can pull it off? I mean when Obama announced his candidacy for presidency, I said to myself, "there's no way he can beat Hillary". but look what happened. A few weeks ago I posted a video from France showing two French big city cops trying to investigate a rape suspect and then getting chased out of the neighborhood by angry Muslim youths. And then there were those violent riots a few years back. I have also read else ware that there are certain neighborhoods that the police cannot even go into without risking either being severely wounded or killed. So if she does win, maybe there wont be any deportations. The French may elect her president, but put other parties into the assembly just as a safeguard. And I am no expert on French issues, or on how the French government works, so I hope that I am getting this right for the most part. But if she does win, we might see a complete halt of immigration from North Africa. Along with a demand that those already there learn the language and adopt the customs of France, and there might also be a lot of restrictions on the use of Sharia law. However, who really are the victims here? Is it not appropriate to ask the question that maybe the Muslims are the haters and the French are just reacting? Maybe I am a little biased because I am Caucasian and Christian, but from what I have read as an observer here in the U.S., the Muslims strike a blow, and if the French react, then the Muslims feign injury, as if they are the victims. If anybody has evidence to the contrary, please post it.

Carry on. . . ;D Refreshing to see someone is awake. I caught the last part of Glenn Beck the other day. He said that Le Pen would sever ties with NATO and get in bed with Russia. If she does win, she might be able to get their Muslim issues under control, but she might not be good for the U.S., Russia is not our friend. On the other hand, maybe we should be asking if NATO is still necessary.
