Iraq, remember, the war that Barack Obama promised to end in his first year in office? www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=CNG.279588144c0fd58d312ca2e921687d3b.681&show_article=1The killing on Friday of an American soldier made April the deadliest month for US forces in Iraq since 2009, according to figures compiled by AFP. The soldier "was killed April 29 while conducting operations in southern Iraq," a US military statement released on Saturday said, without giving further details. The death brought to 11 the number of US troops to have died in Iraq in April, according to an AFP tally based on data compiled by independent website www.icasualties.org. That is the highest monthly toll since November 2009, when 11 soldiers also died, starkly highlighting the risks American soldiers still face even after combat operations were officially declared over last summer. Of the 11 to have died in April, six died in what were described as "non-hostile" incidents. Two were killed as a result of a roadside bomb in Numaniyah, Wasit province, while two others died in separate mortar attacks in Baghdad and Babil provinces. Around 45,000 US soldiers still remain stationed in Iraq, and while they are primarily charged with training and equipping their local counterparts, they can return fire in self-defence and still take part in joint counter-terror operations with Iraqi forces. Friday's death also brings to 4,452 the number of American troops to have died in Iraq since the 2003 US-led invasion that ousted Saddam Hussein, according to the AFP tally.

I agree, molly. At least when Bush was POTUS we saw tributes to fallen soldiers every day. Now no one even knows unless you look for info. God bless the troops.

oh wait, I hate the military according to many here, so I guess I shouldn't be watching anything that comes on the military channel anymore....or just chalk it up to the 'many' know very very little about what I do or don't believe or support. ;D

Don't know what you have for TV, steff, but you often mention channels my expanded Comcast does not have. I have comcast , also expanded basic...also pay for the hi def signal...Military channel is there, for the most part , some interesting priograms, though have to admit the "Greatest Tank Battles " have gotten old,..though actually , Dad with Patton and , the Swhermans ...I do relate , but not the story that they were referred to as "Ronsons "..went up like one of the lighters if hit..and they were hit to frequently by the Germans 88's and panzers, out gunned . Just learned something on the channel though..toward the end of the War, the canadians were making the final push to get over the Rhein, in "45 " and they had over 1000 taanks, Germans by this time had a handful, though were doing everything but throw themselves on to them bodily to stop the father land invasion..but in these Canadian units..every 4th or 5th tank had a long hi velocity 75 cannon that could penetrate 4 " of armor, also reach out in distance, the others all had a short barrel , fired a lighter round, penetrate 2 " only,. I didn't know that, not sure if it was a brit/canadian thing or if US also had improved the cannon on our tanks, same Sherman, by then. I degress Krick , sorry, your sure you don't have it , possible scroll. I watch it a lot , #112, even know the # ..LOL

Do you feel good about kicking their coffins over the goalpost? Oh, the old "if you don't support the war you don't support the troops"! Now where have I heard that before??? Iraq is over , has been for some time, under 50,000 troops, many training Iraqis, all out by I think August and it is up to the Iraqis if they would like us to stay. It seems they are in need of Air Force protection..they have little really ready now...and it seems we would like to continue a presence there..in what form , size , i haven't a clue, and the region is so iffy now, possible we should but thats a military decision, naturally executive one too, but the final word is up to the Iraqi's. I guess it's how cozy the Maliki Government wants to get to Iran.. Always support the Troops ed..100 %, the wars? Up to you on that one...but a little mature understanding on when we are in them wouldn't hurt. Afghanistan, supposedly we start with drawing in July, and how many, depends on how we are doing, what the intelligence shows, and since Gen. Patraeus is taking over the CIA next year, there are questions if he as head of the CIA can honestly give a honest critique on himself when asked for, it's his policy/tactics that is driving our policy there now and the CIA is suppose to give the president/Congress a evaluation, a independent one , of the success or lack of it on how we are doing against the Tali-ban, which means possible criticizing one self..mmmmm, weird how our agency's , government work isn't it. Lets see , same type scenario... Moon asks me to head up a committee to judge who is and who is not Trolls here...possible action to be taken against some.Naturally All posters are evaluated . I being a poster too, come up to my NIC..am I going to say , mmm," dezi..biggest troll here..Zap him", or am I going to say.."why if only all posters had the same correct way of posting as this dezi this place would be like Heaven. "... [Relax ed , that was a example only..just a example, relax buddy}

No, it's the old "You're only mentioning this to score political points."
Maybe that "goalpost" thing was a bit to subtle. Hopefully you've gotten it by now. You know, goalpost, scoring points, it's a political issue?
