Wal-Mart (WMT, Fortune 500), which averages 140 million shoppers weekly to its stores in the United States, is considered a barometer of the health of the consumer and the economy.

To that end, Duke said he's not seeing signs of a recovery yet.

This echos what we are seeing in our store. Small pockets of buying only to be disappointed later. We are running about 7% behind last year in sales ( The last two years were miserable!)

As the price of gas increases - the less people we see in our store! At one point I believe people were gaining confidence and starting to buy only to see the Gas Prices Sky Rocket and now they are frightened again!
