What would you like to see on this great opportunity that moonbeam has given to us?
1. MSN style boards (no freedom of speech) with some power hungry Mods that delete/move/ban at their whim.
2. Freedom of speech (PG).
3. Freedom of speech (PG-13) Mild language and adult content.
4. Freedom of speech (PG-18) Mostly mild language with an occasional salty (not vile) language (especially in debates), and freedom to attack any public figure that we disagree with.
5. Freedom of speech (R)
6. Anything goes.

Stay Put-your options 2-6 are all the same. Either there is freedom of speech or there is not.
Having said that there must be some rules in place. You may find some other message boards out on the interweb that have exactly what you are seeking. Good luck in your quest to find them if you so choose. I hope you choose to stay.

Well Tennesser, I hate to rattle your Liberal hopes, but that is not what I am talking about. I could be as glib to you as your statement was to me, but I will instead say that I am here probably for the same reason(s) that you are. To receive and convey information on matters of interest to us all. Now, to correct you on your opening statement, 2-6 are not the same.
Anyone wanting #'s 5 & 6 probably should go look for another board. I myself would prefer #4. FYI

CoC current version.
The short version: Treat your fellow posters with courtesy and respect. This means no personal attacks, racial slurs, stalking. Profanity is allowed as long as it's not excessive.
Let's see here: # 1 is obviously out by virtue of the boards very existence. # 2 check # 3 check # 4 check # 5 check...........2-5 all allowable under current CoC. Not that we need 5 or 6 as per the guidelines set forth in reply #2 (see above)
Heck I'm in, now where do we vote?

Unfortunately, there are real personal attacks, and then there are honest to goodness debates with a little ribald language added in for good measure. A good Mod either knows the difference or doesn't. Also, when it comes to political leanings, certain Mods should just walk away if they can't handle opposing viewpoints/attacks against a political (public figure) person.

I think moonbeam is doing a fine job. I am also impressed with the mods - thus far. I like pictures... However, here are a couple things I would like: 1. A larger field for thread titles. 2. The ability to insert hyperlinks like on the MSN boards, where the article title can be the "visible" link instead of its "hidden" url address. For example: I can post the following article title using the Proboard "Insert Hyperlink" icon. Although it will show up in blue, it's a DEADEND link. Christine O'Donnell Lashes Out At Criminal Investigationwww.huffingtonpost.com/2010/12/30/christine-odonnell-thug-t_n_802614.htmlIs is possible that I'm just not doing it right...?

I am fine with the way the board is being run right now, common sense with a every now and then question and a quick back and forth with a moderator.
I am guessing the mods are working it out among themselves as to what is , what isn't, a work in progress.
I have had a few discussions with mods on posting style and there was a fair back and forth . I would suggest if there is something that happens, a quick public question and then if not satisfied go private , one on one with moderator and from the moderator's side , I suggest if there is a question and objection to a post, but not really a over the top to have you do something, then you too communicate privately and get your point across and discuss the situation,
My feelings on the poll above , you get into a P contest , a interpretation of, " I thought the board was being run like # 3, or 4 or 5 or whatever"..who does the interpretation, and if you say the moderators then you get into the back and forth of how they are interpreting.
As far as #6, LOL, been there , done it, a complete disaster. Closest thing to it now is the UK boards? If you think that is bad the one I was on was 20 times worse if not more.

I like #5. 6 is over the top for me, because I am subject to personal attacks against me, and I'm sick of it. I like the board so far.

Lakhota, you can do #2. All you need to do when you are constructing your URL is the following: (url=http://www.msn.com)MSN URL Title Here(/url) Replace the parens with brackets and voila.

i'd like that too, and don't know why it's not an option already... don't know if it can be done.

I cast a big atta boy or girl I am not certain for moonbeam. It took me a bit to figure this board out, not real computer literate but I am getting there. Still have not figured out how to put a picture on my post yet. Was considering putting up one of me on a nude beach but that would expose my short comings so will opt for something else. Maybe my pet monkey.
