I've read several books the last month trying to understand how people can support Donald Trump.  So much craziness during his first term.  So yeah, let Trump be Trump!

I can tell you from personal experience: in the icu, people who work under you need to be able to tell you things that you don’t want to hear, and offer opinions that may differ from yours. By doing so, you re-evaluate your thoughts and if you are open minded, sometimes change treatment.

Intelligence directors have 17 different agencies that report to them. The information and opinions contradict. They need to synthesize them and make recommendations, sometimes different than what the boss thinks. Group think is dangerous. Being able to speak truth to power and to give a different impression is important in this position, if not imperative. Think Gabbard can do it? Think Trump wants an independent thinker?

You may be correct on some but I think others, not so much. Goetz is a bomb thrower who will create chaos. I don't think he will be an effective agent to get the results that Trump desires. RFK, Jr. Will just have short term policy impact that will be quickly reversed when he is gone, Gabbard and Hegseth will be overwhelmed by their inexperience of dealing the sheer size and complexity of the organizations they are taking on.

Some guy my husband went to high school is so excited because RFK will get all the harmful additives and chemicals out of our food supply. I wish he was right - but I just don’t see the GOP/Trump putting EU-style regulations on our food production companies.

The weirdos have been saying for years that big pharma was making big bucks on vaccines- which I don’t think is true. If they were, anti-vacs wouldn’t stand a chance. If Pharma is breaking even on vaccines, they may be happy to let them go and re-tool those plants to more profitable drugs. Like the ones that make your eyelashes grow or your penis erect.

Incompetence is ok if you have strong institutions and a crisis doesn’t come up. As we saw in 2020, Covid showed Trump was not able to deal with a crisis with competent advisors. With incompetent advisors it will be worse. Just imagine if RFK Jr was in charge of HHS then. Will we even had pushed for a vaccine? How about if there is another 9/11 type event. Who is the adult in the room? Certainly not Trump.

That is why strong leaders do not fear having good people work under them. It eased their burden and makes for better decision making. Conservatives would rather everyone fall in line instead of collaborate or disagree. Better decisions are made when we don’t have group thinking
