Trump was never qualified to be president — or anything else

Let’s get one thing straight before Election Day — and before nearly half the electorate votes for him: Donald Trump was never remotely qualified to run for president of the United States of America, let alone to hold that office.

Likewise, although he still pathetically boasts about being “like, really smart” and attending a great business school, Trump never had the brain power, seriousness or attention to detail necessary to become a legit businessman.

That judgment doesn't come from me; it’s what people closest to him have said for decades, from the journalist who first warned us about Trump to the ghostwriter who regrets working on “The Art of the Deal” to the people who worked most closely him during his four years degrading the presidency, shredding political norms and tearing our country apart.

And let’s not forget that professor at the Wharton School of Business who privately told friends that Trump was the dumbest student he’d ever encountered during his lengthy teaching career.

Protected by a fortune from his father while playing the part of a canny real estate developer, Trump repeatedly bankrupted himself upward. The “King of Debt” learned early on how to profit from public money and make the public pay for his mistakes. Wayne Barrett, the journalist who saw Trump’s grifting ways from the get-go, wrote: “Like his father, Donald Trump has pushed each deal to the limit, taking from it whatever he can get, turning political connections into private profits at public expense."

So as we at last (and yet somehow too soon) come to Election Day 2024 and hear from ever more prominent people that Trump is unfit and unqualified to be president — often from the highest level people who worked with him during his first term of occasionally occupying the Oval Office — we should not forget that he was never fit, or qualified, to be president.

Indeed, one could easily argue, as people have for years, that he is not qualified or fit to serve in any job in any capacity.

Not that I like Fuentes, but I found this part interesting:

The other part I can't figure out - if people who worked with Trump are denouncing him (despite party) and saying they will not vote Republican, and extreme right wing activists have stopped supporting him, his base MUST be shrinking because groups are peeling off. How can it possibly be close, if more die hard Rs refuse to vote for him?

It is not conservatives in general that are garbage.  It is Trump supporters SPECIFICALLY.  This country needs two viable opposing parties who both have this country's best interests at heart.  We used to have that at least to a degree decades ago.  Yes, the two parties came at problems from opposite directions but they were not actively trying to destroy what America should be.  Republicans under Trump no longer give a damn about the American people.  Those feckless f*cks have given themselves over to maybe the worst person in American history.  EVERY vestige of Trump and Trumpism needs to be rooted out and destroyed so that the Republicans can maybe get back to being a respectable party and conservatives can get back to promoting conservative approaches to issues.

I myself finish just about dead center overall when looking at those, "Where do you stand" questionnaires.  Some of my positions are liberal.  Some are conservative.  Many are nuanced.  I respect principled conservatives.  There are very few left in the Republican Party today.  Most have left or been run out.  They need to take their party back, and they cannot / will not do that until Trumpism has been banished to the garbage heap of history.  Where he and it belong.

Anyone who did 10 minutes of research on Donald Trump would know what a phony he is.  His being a great businessman could easily be dispelled.  You are not for the little people when you stiff contractors and vendors who worked on your failed casino projects.  Between that and the failed steaks, university, magazines, and airline to name a few.  Then the portrayal of a billionaire on a reality show. 


His total incompetence during the pandemic proved he is not qualified.  He didn't care enough about the country during Jan 2020 to take his daily briefings.

i gave him the benefit of the doubt when he first said that.  but now?  there are literally dozens of women that have accused him of that behavior, and worse.  and, candidly, he has not actually denied ANY of it.  he says that he "doesn't know E Jean Carroll", and that might be true.  many rapists do NOT know their victims.  it is not necessary to KNOW someone to assault them.  i find it much easier to believe those dozens of women than someone who has a known pattern of lying for his own benefit.
