Election officials in southern states are grappling with fallout from dual hurricanesThought this was a great article looking at local election officials working diligently to make sure that the upcoming election is run fair and legal against challenging conditions. I know from personal experience our county auditor is doing a lot to get everyone ready. Here is information I got in an email from her: Official Election Observer Training (Introductory Course) – Delivered via Zoom
This is the introductory course that is meant for first-time observers, or any previous observer who would like a refresher on the basics of Elections here in Stevens County and Washington State. This course is REQUIRED at least once for anyone who will be affiliating with and/or representing the Political Parties, as well as any new Extra Help Employees, and is encouraged for anyone else with an interest in elections.
A Discussion on Media Literacy – Delivered via Zoom
This course can be used to fulfill the new requirement that ALL Official Observers representing Political Parties must attend some form of training with our office at least once every 2 calendar years. That being said, it is open to anyone. This will be the first time I offer this training/discussion opportunity.
Ballot Drop Box Retrieval Team Training – In person, at the Ballot Processing Center
This training is required for all new members of the ballot drop box retrieval teams, and is highly encouraged for repeat team members or previous ride-alongs. This training will ensure that all drop box procedures and documentation processes are reviewed. In addition, we will go over safety and security protocols and response procedures, if necessary. I have taken the Observer and am signed up for the Retrieval Team training. These professionals do not deserve the derision they receive.
