You guys might have heard a while ago that the school superintendent in Oklahoma was going to put a Bible in every classroom in Oklahoma. The state put out to bid for the Bible’s, but it was so specific on what it had to include (like the Constitution and the Magna Carta) that the only Bible that met all those requirement’s was Trump’s $60 Bible. The superintendent said he didn’t necessarily need a Bible for every classroom, just for every English and History classroom, but he wants 55,000 Bibles, even though there are only 43,000 classrooms in the State. Buying 55,000 Bibles for $60 each is 3 million dollars. This guy has a $60,000 contract with a speaker’s bureau to go around giving interviews about his Bibles in the classroom project, which he claims was Trump’s idea, because Trump is so great. There is speculation he wants a cabinet seat. So now we know what a cabinet seat costs in Trump’s cabinet. www.oklahoman.com/story/news/2024/10/04/donald-trump-supported-bible-one-of-few-that-meets-ryan-walters-criteria-for-ok-classrooms/75510021007/This guy can’t force the schools to put the Bibles in their classrooms, and some have said they won’t, due to separation of church and state. Even if they did put the Bibles in the classroom, a teacher could just bury it in the bottom of file cabinet or bookcase and it doesn’t ever have to see the light of day - but Trump will still get his piece of each Bible, whether they ever get used or not.

It's like trump is taxing Americans with his own wonderful Trump Tax. Americans should be proud to pay it.

Grifters gotta grift. I'm assuming Trump offered that superintendent a cut of the profits. Why is this being allowed? Where is the Supreme Court when you need them?

Religious books can be in public school classrooms. Most states require the basics of each of the big five religions to be equally taught as part of social studies standards. What isn’t supposed to happen in public schools is a person of authority preaching one religion or attempting to convert students to any religion.
Any public school classroom can have a Christian bible in it. It just also has to have a Torah, Quran, etc in it.
Any one can pray in a public school. A staff member cannot lead a prayer or tell kids to pray during class time.
Now, spending $3mm of public funds on the Christian Bible and not buying the texts of the other Big Five isn’t okay. Even if someone donated the 55k Bibles, there would still need to be the other Big Five texts purchased or provided to keep everything neutral.

I don’t know what their state laws are, but where I live public school employees cannot accept a gift worth more than $50. If they’re given one, they must give it to the school/district.

Seems to me with Trump being the Christian and billionaire he is, he would have happily donated them to the school. I know, I thought people could use a laugh to start the day!

The Supreme Court is picking their noses making sure they keep their life time jobs. Not a comment on the Oklahoma problem but on my absolute lack of faith in the Supreme Court/the judges sitting.

Seems to me with Trump being the Christian and billionaire he is, he would have happily donated them to the school. I know, I thought people could use a laugh to start the day! That would cost him money, though - he doesn’t actually own the bibles, he sold his name to the company making the bibles, and he gets a cut of each sale. So far, he claims he’s gotten $300,000 so far for putting his name on them, and making his cheesy ads for them. And really all he would need to do his make Lara spend the RNC money buying the bibles and donating them. If there is any RNC money left. Trump doesn’t actually ‘do’ that much, he sells his name and face to companies so they can hawk their shit better - Trump University was the same way. And these resorts and hotels with his name on them, usually he sends one of his kids around to put their Trump ‘touches’ on the hotel plans and decorations, and they plant the Trump name on the front facade. Except the golf courses, he loves to buy golf courses, even though golf courses are notorious money pits (which is just more proof that Trump is not the business genius he thinks he is). One of my hopes is that eventually, the Trump name will be so besmirched he can’t license it to a dog kibble brand.

It looks like Oklahoma may be looking for a bible different from trump's version. It is still my understanding the school districts can opt out of the program. Oklahoma amends request for Bibles that initially appeared to match only version backed by TrumpUpdated 10:30 AM CDT, October 8, 2024 OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma has amended its request for 55,000 Bibles to be placed in public schools that initially matched a version of the holy book endorsed by former President Donald Trump. The request was amended Monday and no longer requires the Bibles to include U.S. historical documents such as the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution — requirements that match the “God Bless the USA Bible” that Trump endorsed this year and that are several times more expensive than similar Bibles that don’t include the U.S. documents. The new request says the historical documents may be included together or separately and extends the deadline for offers to supply the items by one week, from Oct. 14 to Oct. 21. The request is part of State Superintendent Ryan Walters’ efforts to require Bibles in public school classrooms, which has been met with resistance by some of Oklahoma’s largest school districts. Walters, in a Monday video on X, said the Bible will be used “because of its historical significance throughout this nation’s history,” blaming what he called the “fake news media” for lies about the program. Made in China for 3 bucks each. Sold for 60 bucks. Sounds about right, for a Trump grift.

The Borowitz Report
Trump’s Chinese Bibles Taking Jobs away from American BiblesUNITED STATES OF AMERICA (The Borowitz Report)—News that Donald J. Trump’s $60 Bibles were printed in China has infuriated American Bibles, who on Wednesday accused the foreign-made Holy Books of stealing jobs from them. In a brief statement, the American Bibles wrote, “China is beating us at Bibles. Chinese Bibles are laughing at us. They’re laughing at us.” “China is sending Bibles over here in the millions,” the statement continued. “When was the last time you saw an American Bible in a Chinese motel room? We’re not winning at Bibles.” “When China sends us their Bibles, they’re not sending their best,” the statement claimed. “Their Bibles are full of crime. And rapists. And, we assume, some good people.” The bombshell about the Trump Bible has brought closer scrutiny to some of its content, such as a Lee Greenwood song called “I’m Proud to be a Manchurian.” Trump’s Chinese Bibles Taking Jobs away from American Bibles
