MTG says ‘they’ can control the weather and it’s ridiculous for anyone to lie and say it can’t be done.
She then posted a map of the eastern half of the US showing the overlap of an electoral map and hurricane prone areas.
So I guess ‘they’ is the Dem loving deep state.
Science says the hotter temps as these storms move across the oceans cause them to pick up more water as they go - used to be the storm surge that was the deadliest aspect of a hurricane, and lately, it’s been drowning deaths from huge rainfalls further inland.
And MTG must not have visited Asheville before. They have a ton of artists, a university and more micro breweries per capita than any city other than Portland. It’s a blue strong hold in a red state. If the Dems really could control the weather, they would have picked almost any other NC area to flood.
I do appreciate the X poster who commented to MTGs post ‘if we could control the weather we would make it rain on your dumb head 24/7/365.’

Oh yeah....this was all planned to interfere with the election. I heard it from my MAGA friends. I don't respond to their comments but if they could hear the conversations in my head!!!

Bill never passed. But then trump was not reelected then too. New bill would prohibit the president from nuking a hurricaneThe measure is a direct response to President Trump’s reported suggestion of using nuclear bombs to defuse Atlantic tropical cyclones June 8, 2020 at 6:46 p.m. EDT Last August, Axios reported that President Trump repeatedly asked top national security officials to consider using nuclear bombs to weaken or destroy hurricanes. Now, one congresswoman wants to make it illegal for Trump, or any president, to act on this idea, which experts say would be both ineffective and extremely dangerous. On June 1, Rep. Sylvia Garcia (D-Tex.) introduced the Climate Change and Hurricane Correlation and Strategy Act, a bill that explicitly prohibits the president, along with any other federal agency or official, from employing a nuclear bomb or other “strategic weapon” with the goal of “altering weather patterns or addressing climate change.” In a phone interview, Garcia told The Washington Post that the bill was drafted as a direct response to last year’s report that Trump has floated the idea of nuking hurricanes to his senior homeland security and national security advisers. Trump denied ever making such a suggestion in a tweet shortly after Axios published its report. The bill, which has no co-sponsors and no hearing date, appears unlikely to make it out of committee anytime soon. It has been referred to three committees: Armed Services; Energy and Commerce; and Science, Space and Technology. Rest of article here: New bill would prohibit the president from nuking a hurricane

I sure hope she doesn't get re-elected this time. I can't believe there are so many dumb folks in her district. Surely there are more with the intelligence to NOT vote for her.

I live in her district. She will get re-elected; this area typically goes 80% GOP, and while some people may not bother to turn out to vote (I’ve only seen maybe 3 MTG signs) there is a strong belief that voting for a Dem would send you to hell (the whole abortion thing) so not many would vote for a Dem. Plus they’ve all bought into the MSM is nothing but lies thing. it was weird, she showed up here last week and they had a photo with her sitting at a conference table with county leaders but my friend whose family has lived here for generations said she only recognized one of them. We don’t know who they are.

In other hurricane dingbat news, Laura Loomer is warning hurricane victims not to talk to FEMA.
I know lynching isn’t allowed, but can we crate her up and send her to the Antarctic until the spring fall?

How much lower can they go? Being facetious. I'm gobsmacked at some of the things that comes from the maga elite Well, it gets worse. There is someone on X with 150 K followers who claims she talked to some relative who is ‘high up’ in the military who says there is going to be a civil war with the military attacking the hurricane victims in NC. Apparently this is why Loomer is urging people not to talk to FEMA, because FEMA and the military are all part of the same government that is planning to attack them. I can’t even find a thread of sense in this. The government has deployed the military to the area to help search and rescue in the very mountainous terrain, and to try to clear the roads and make some bridges, and yet in reality they’re bringing weapons to murder all the hurricane survivors? In lefty Asheville that sent 700 protestors dressed like zombies to protest Sarah Palin’s visit in 2008? I hope all the poor MAGA people stranded up in the hollows in the Smokies don’t have any way to access social media right now. I would hate that they would refuse federal help because of idiots like this person on X (and Elon for allowing this bullshit to sit out there scaring everyone.)

Marge is now promoting drinking raw milk.
Because what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger I guess.
Maybe I can also convince her that raw water is good for her too.
Clearly she skipped microbiology. And basic science classes. And history classes.
Not sure she went to school at all, actually.

She saw so many women lose their babies or kids/farmers get sick from tainted milk. You just got lucky if you didn't get sick. To them pasteurization was a miracle. I've cultured raw milk. While yes technically the milk is sterile it's only sterile INSIDE the cow's body. Once it passes through the udders it is no longer clean. I've cultured raw milk you DO NOT want to drink that shit. It's unlikely anything in there would make me sick as an overall healthy 40 year old adult but if I was pregnant I'm putting the fetus at risk which I thought was a HUGE NO NO according to conservatives. If I am immune compromised or elderly it could end up killing me too. And yes there is also a raw water movement. You can't prevent the stupid but you can hope they weed themselves out of the gene pool.

What is a case of ilea’s TB among friends. Guess they haven’t heard of bovine tuberculosis.
The problem is many people get away with doing stupid things, so they then think the medical establishment is overreacting. All of these idiots want to return use to the 19th century when life expectancy was in the 40s

She got lucky. Same with vaccinations. She got lucky but knows so many people who didn't. Why would you even take the chance? We're too far removed from it all. She told me you see one person disfigured from mumps or in an iron lung your ass runs not walks to the doctor's office dragging your kids behind you. I wonder if some of those people would rethink it if I handed them a culture plate and said "Here drink this." "Oh you don't want to?" "Why not that's what you just drank in that glass of raw milk over there".

Do not want to drink that shit indeed (and quite literally). I will never understand why they are determined to make science the enemy. Go die of easily preventable illnesses I guess. Winning.

Esh. I read A LOT and none of this is new. We did the same thing regarding smallpox vaccine even though Jefferson hailed (rightly so) as a modern miracle. I'd like to do unspeakable things to Andrew Wakefield's grave when he passes. He is what I would consider the father of the current anti-vaccination movement. You ever read The Ghost Map? It's a book all about the cholera outbreak in England and the birth of epidemiology. It's a really interesting read and it discusses this very topic. At a certain point society/people get too far removed from the consequences of their choices. In this case the rich people living where there was clean water. They weren't putting together it was because they had access to clean water. It was a moral failing on the part of poor people that they were getting sick/were poor. Good honest God fearing rich people weren't getting sick because they were good honest God fearing rich people. Once rich people got sick then it was OH SHIT THE GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO FIX THIS! And it did. That's why Trump stoking fears of unvaccinated hordes of brown people works so well too. They aren't sick because they don't have access to proper health care, they are sick because they are poor dirty people who will come and try to rub off on you. Once society has inhaled enough of its own smug we stop doing things that are in our best interest like vaccinating and not drinking raw milk. Only until enough people and more specifically, enough "rich" people get sick will the pendulum swing back in the other direction. Humans aren't wired to be under constant vigilance, so we eventually become stupid and careless. Then evolution comes and weeds the stupid out. Americans are especially prone to this because we've never fully shed our Puritan heritage where things like illness were seen as punishment from God for not praying hard enough.

i MOSTLY agree with you.
but we were well on our way to shedding our puritanism until the Cold War. we were actually among the MOST rational, science based nations in 1955. we saw the blessings of science, and we GENERALLY supported them.
since that time, we have remained approximately as religious, while the rest of the world has become MORE scientific. and the result is that today, we are actually ABOVE IRAN in terms of religiosity.
it is disturbing and bizarre, but it explains a lot.

I agree about Wakefield. The damage he has done is incalculable. All so he could market his vaccine, but the antivax nuts don’t understand that.
We have always had a strong anti-intellectual/anti-science vibe here. Just getting worse.
I routinely see patients with post-polio syndrome. They develop respiratory failure from their neuromuscular disease and scoliosis. But these anti-science groups will just call that fake news. We are so close to having an major outbreak of one of these childhood disease, and getting it under control will be a bear

I remember watching some idiot on TV take a bunch of clear glass flasks to collect ‘raw’ water from a mountain stream. He brought it home and it started turning green, which he said meant it was ‘living’ and therefore good for you.
I think he played too many video games where you can grab a ‘life pellet’ to extend your life or whatever. He thinks if you eat anything alive, it gives you extra life.
Yes, back 20,000 years ago we drank raw water and ate raw meat and survived, but we had a lot of parasites and intestinal issues and died young. That’s why in the Middle Ages people drank beer or wine and had sense not to drink the water, if they could afford not to.

It's just a good chunk of the things living in there will be hell bent on killing you and then spreading cheerfully to others as you shit and vomit your brains out. My kids know better but we were in Colorado a couple years ago and a mule deer walked behind me and into the creek. Proceeded to take a leak. I told the girls "That, that right there is why you don't drink raw water". I would LOVE some of these nuts to watch that and argue to me how drinking mule deer piss is better for me than treated water. Also have cultured deer bacteria you don't want any of that (literal) shit either.

Fake 50's clothes
Fake 50's food
Classic gas-guzzling dream cars
In more ads on the tube
Fake home-made cookies
Like Mommy used to make
Nostalgia for an age
That never existed
Do you remember
Art-deco knick-knacks and flings
The stars on the silver screen
Made you forget Hooverville
View the world
Through Time Life and Nick-at-Nite
Nostalgia for an age
That never existed
All the stars had a pretty face
Children and negroes knew their place
Blocks of happy families
With Moms and Dads all in love
Or are these wholesome memories
Really from reruns on TV
Fake sixties
Mask our leaders sleaze
Is it really a new beginning
With Confederate Kennedys?
Fake Camelot
Before everything went wrong
Nostalgia for an age
That never existed
Do you remember
The Summer of Love
Vietnam, mini-skirts and drugs
Rebellion was so much fun
Tell your own kids
to say no to that
Nostalgia for an age
That never existed
Turn that MTV racket off
So your folks can listen to "classic" rock
Mellow out to the same old songs
Again and again and again
Do you wonder or even care
How you wound up such a square
If you can't stand "The Big Chill"
Get out of the freezer
Can't stand The Big Chill
Get out of the freezer
Everything old is new again
It all comes back, just wait your turn
But somehow the magics always missing
Giving up on future dreams
To dwell on rosy memories
Will make sure your best days
are in the past
Nostalgia for an age that never existed
Nostalgia for an age that never existed
Do you remember
Being the first punk in your town
Outlaw #1
For the t-shirt you had on
Now you stay at home
Mad at the whole scene
For refusing to freeze
In 1983
Why can't all the bands reform
Stick to playing their old songs
It ain't punk
If it ain't just like the old days
That was then, this is now
Suckling up to the sacred cow
Can leave you stuck in the mud
With it's remains
Nostalgia for an age that never existed
Nostalgia for an age that never existed
lyrics by Jello Biafra

Will you all shush!
Let them believe all the stupid shit. Let them get sick. Watch their friends and family in pain. Then they will have to examine all their sources.
