I was driving to work today and the song "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us" from Starship was on. It contains the lyrics
"If the world ran out of lovers, we'd still have each other" which i believe ranks right up there with the stupidest lyrics of all time
Other honorable mentions:
"I'm never gonna dance again, guilty feet have got no rhythm" by George Michael (Wham?). WTF are guilty feet?
What stupid lyrics irk you?

Well, there's
Papa don't preach, I'm in trouble deep, and I made up my mind, I'm keeping my baby
and
Goodbye Papa, please pray for me
I was the black sheep of the family
You tried to teach me right from wrong Too much wine and too much song Wonder how I got along

“Don’t Let Me Down” by ELO - took me decades to figure out they were singing ‘don’t let me down…. Bruce.’
He’s singing about a GIRL that let him down. Who the hell is Bruce?

Not sure these should qualify as "stupid". Songwriters Alan Gordon and Garry Bonner wrote a couple hit songs for The Turtles in the 60's. The first, "Happy Together," had an interesting line tossed in for some reason:
No matter how they toss the dice, it had to be The only one for me is you, and you for me So happy together
So happy together And how is the weather? So happy together We're happy together So happy togetherHappy together So happy together So happy together
Record executives insisted they write another bubblegum hit. So they sarcastically came up with one that actually became a top 10 hit.
Your looks intoxicate me Even though your folks hate me There’s no one like you Elenore really
Elenore gee I think you’re swell And you really do me well You’re my pride and joy etcetera

“Lying alone with my head on the phone, Thinking of you til it hurts”
Hated that song since the first time I heard that line.
In defence of Seasons in the Sun, it was an English adaptation of a Belgian song about a dying man saying his goodbyes. Apparently in the original he is dying of a broken heart as his wife was having an affair with the friend he says goodbye to. I don’t remember that being part of English version.
It also made my mom think of a young family friend who died in a Skidoo accident when his daughter, Michelle was a few months old.

I was listening to Pandora on the deck last month and Tina Turner's Game of Love came on. I wake up in the night and think...A little bit of this a little bit of that...It has been the longest ear worm I have had in a while.

I made the mistake of watching 1000 musicians perform Bruno Mars Uptown Funk a while back - that ear worm stuck with me for weeks. If you’re willing to risk it, here it is.

I always thought the reference to Michelle Pfieffer in that song was so weird. Like, no one knows who she is anymore.

From the song Not Meant to Be (Theory of a Deadman) - "Nobody wins when everyone's losing". I have to skip the song on my playlist now when it comes on.

Going a different direction...my favorite lyric is from Joe Walsh:
"Everybody's so different, we're all the same"

My biggest problem with that song was she was like 30 when she was singing that song. I know there was still some stigma of birth outside marriage - but it just didn’t jive with me. Maybe if it was someone who was 15 singing the song it would work - but back then, people would have been pissed off that a 15 year old girl admitted to having sex. Purity culture sux!

Since a couple of years ago, when I had the bad judgement to really listen to the lyrics, I have decided that "Every breath you take" has to be THE stalkers anthem.
Sometimes it is better not to listen too closely

ALL of Don't Worry, Be Happy and Kokomo. EVERY. SINGLE. WORD. Even Disco Duck was FAR less annoying.

Sometimes it is better not to listen too closely How about “Don’t you want me” by The Human League. That one hasn’t aged well. “You better change your mind or we will both be sorry”. They played that one at the wedding I was at by last night.

Sometimes it is better not to listen too closely I always think of stalking when I hear Maroon Five's song 'Animals' "Baby, I'm preying on you tonight Hunt you down eat you alive Just like animals Animals Like animals-mals Maybe you think that you can hide I can smell your scent for miles Just like animals Animals Like animals-mals"

DH absolutely despises this song because they never say what is true.
True Song by Spandau Ballet
Lyrics Huh huh huh hu-uh huh Huh huh huh hu-uh huh So true, funny how it seems Always in time, but never in line for dreams Head over heels when toe to toe This is the sound of my soul This is the sound I bought a ticket to the world But now I've come back again Why do I find it hard to write the next line? Oh I want the truth to be said Huh huh huh hu-uh huh I know this much is true Huh huh huh hu-uh huh I know this much is true With a thrill in my head and a pill on my tongue Dissolve the nerves that have just begun Listening to Marvin (all night long) This is the sound of my soul This is the sound Always slipping from my hands Sand's a time of its own Take your seaside arms and write the next line Oh I want the truth to be known Huh huh huh hu-uh huh I know this much is true Huh huh huh hu-uh huh I know this much is true I bought a ticket to the world But now I've come back again Why do I find it hard to write the next line? Oh I want the truth to be said Huh huh huh hu-uh huh I know this much is true Huh huh huh hu-uh huh I know this much is true This much is true This much is true This much is true I know, I know, I know this much is true This much is true This much is true (huh huh) This much is true This much is true I know this much is true This much is true (huh huh) This much is true (I know this much is true) This much is true (huh huh) This much is true (I know this much is true) I know, I know, I know this much is true
