A man is on trial accused of repeatedly drugging and raping his wife, as well as encouraging dozens of other men to rape her in their home while she was unconscious, court documents show.



72-year-old Gisèle appeared in a courtroom in Avignon, France, on Monday for the opening of the trial, sunglasses on, her daughter and two sons by her side.

Prosecutors say the defendant, 71-year-old Dominique would recruit men online to rape his wife, after drugging her with sleeping pills and anti-anxiety medication.

He faces nine charges including several counts of rape with aggravating circumstances, the drugging of a victim to commit rape, and the sharing of images related to those assaults.



Prosecutors were able to put together a case because Dominique documented a number of the alleged assaults on camera.

Police have identified at least 92 sexual assaults committed by 72 men, with ages ranging from 26 to 74, court documents show.

I wonder what the outcome of the trial will be. The article implies the case will be at least 4 months long.    No one should do this to anyone. Ever.

It would take exactly ONE incident and dear hubby would have been locked out of the house, sleeping on a park bench until he got relocated to a jail cell.

Zero chance I would get within 100 yards of that guy again.

Maybe I skimmed or something? He was caught because he did upskirt videos. The police found he, the husband, had recorded the assaults on his wife. I thought she did not know until it came to light. They found the attacks on the wife when they confiscated his camera for prosecuting that lesser crime.

What I remember reading is the drugs he used on her were starting to affect her daily life functioning so she started going to the doctor to find out what might be happening. She may have no independent money of her own. I cannot imagine being near him at all once the police showed me that abuse on camera.

On Tuesday, she sat through a reading of the horrific acts she was subjected to, as well as the arguments from each of the defendants’ lawyers.

“It was very difficult,” one of her lawyers, Stéphane Babonneau told CNN on Tuesday. “It was unbearable for her to hear people say they thought she was pretending to sleep and were convinced it was consensual,” he added.

Last Friday ahead of the trial, another one of her lawyers, Antoine Arebalo-Camus told reporters “she had no idea what had been inflicted on her, so she has no memory of the rapes she suffered for 10 years.”

Abuse victims often have trouble leavings their abusers.  But in this case case you just read the article incorrectly.   Domonique is the husband.    He documented a number of the assaults himself.   She was not aware because he drugged her.   He is a fucking monster.

Oh no, I read Dominique as a female name. Oops!

So she was unaware until the cops told her. How humiliating.

He’s lucky one of their kids didn’t take a golf club to him.

Still, I imagine French prisons are just as harsh to rapists as American ones are, and the guy is in his seventies, so hopefully he’ll live long enough to regret being such a sadistic creepy shit.

The toxicologist on Thursday spoke of a “cocktail” of medication, a mixture of Temesta and Zolpidem, hypnotic and anxiolytic drugs. A medical expert said that the alleged rapists were not made to wear condoms and that Gisele Pelicot had contracted four sexually transmitted infections.

“I was sacrificed on the altar of vice,” Gisele Pelicot testified. “They regarded me like a rag doll, like a garbage bag.”

Questioned in court, Gisele Pelicot rejected the argument that any of these men were manipulated or trapped.

"These men entered my home, respected the imposed protocol. They did not rape me with a gun to the head. They raped me in all conscience," she said. "Why didn't they go to the police station? Even an anonymous phone call could have saved my life."
