1. Ratings mean nothing in the larger picture.
2. After paying out the $787 MILLION settlement with another $2 BILLION hanging in suit #2, FAUX has proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are the most dishonest news outlet since Pravda.

Why don't you just do a search for the thousand other threads (many of which I think you started) for the reasons that this is essentially meaningless?  Not that it'll help, since you seem to be completely incapable of learning anyway.   

There is a now-famous study done years ago that showed that people who got their news from FOX News were less informed on issues than people who watched no news at all.  That shows that FOX actively engages in misinformation.  There is also the fact that during the defamation trial that cost them $800 million they were forced to admit in court under oath that they were not a news organization but an entertainment one.  There are several reasons why FOX' ratings are high, but those ratings are essentially proof that there are a lot of stupid people who like to be spoon-fed lies because it makes them feel better.  Any other questions?

No, they package things up so people like you are compelled to tune in. They sell you what you want to hear. The closest we have to honest concise news is probably AP Newswire and Reuters.

I watched a no information voter try to pass off what she heard to someone on the phone as news. Problem was, she got half of it wrong, and that half was opinion anyway.     So I've seen firsthand how some people live for innuendo and rumor. I don't understand, but for some people (like Trump) appearing to be in the know is more important than actually knowing what is really happening.

He however is wrong. The world's strongmen have walked all over him and he doesn't even notice. In fact he and and his followers believe its the opposite of what is happening in RL.

We all know Harris was a prosecutor and is smarter and tougher than Trump. What he's selling will work on his base and those who want to believe such lies. Harris or Biden are worth at least 3 Trumps even on their worst day. Trump can say what he wants, but it only makes the campaign easier against him.

It is not just age, its mindset. Yes, the viewership of Faux news on "cable" skews older, but it does reach many demographics. It is probably rerun week on RW media because of the Olympics so it felt new to Rip.

The young conservative Tiki Torch bearers probably organized their march on social media. They aren't progressive because they are young, they just are conservatives using new technology and methods which have also been happening since the start of mankind. X is now a conservative stronghold because Musk owns it.

FWIW, its wise to understand how networks track ratings too.
In some metrics, "cable news" includes the streaming platforms as well.

Much of what I get on the MSN home page on the internet is not news. Just product placement and paid for push articles from whomever. (Lots of Fox news fwiw) I hate slogging through permissions for new services so I've yet to do so for my cellphone. So I am only reading the headlines and missing some good stuff in order to avoid all the crap they will try to send me on my phone. The daily news summary plus Apple pushes are too much already IMO.

When I went to dealers to have my car worked on, one of them always had FOX on at a ridiculously high volume. I could put up with almost any other daytime show over that including kid's cartoons.

of course that means that CNN, MSNBC and others are even MORE pathetic, having an even LOWER market share, customer base, etc. but none of us here are bragging about their standing in the dying cable news business. and yes, it is dying. their revenues have not kept up with inflation in the last half decade.

i will hand it to them for cutting costs. they are no longer losing a billion dollars a year. they are clinging to a paltry 2% margin (about what grocery stores make).

Right!  I'm not even young, I'm 44, and I haven't had cable in over a decade!  No one my age I know has cable or watches new programs....even if you can get them through streaming services. At least not for everyday politics.  The last time I watched ABC news was during the insurection in 2021.  I haven't even been watching the Olympics on Peacock.  I watch clips of what I want to see on Youtube.

I'm 55 and haven't had cable in probably 20 years.  I think Samsung TV which I do get now has Fox and CNN and all the other news channels, but I don't ever watch them.  For giggles I went to foxnews.com for the first time in a long, long time and holy hell it reminds me of the front page of the National Enquirer (do they still make that).  It doesn't seem like an actual news site at all just a gossip rag.   If I do go to a news site it's AP, NPR or BBC.
