If I had to guess, the Vanity Fair link chiver posted in #54. I thought that but it is an article written by a woman about a woman's interview of a woman. So not sure about "mansplaining". I was reading it as a woman explaining (justifying?) something to a general audience.

Vance’s wife came forward to support him, saying that he didn’t mean all women without children are bitter old cat women - he was only directing those comments at women who decided to remain child free. He was not directing those comments to all the women who tried to get pregnant and couldn’t. I guess those women are sad old cat ladies, but not bitter old cat ladies. Because that somehow makes it better?! NOI am surprised her pants didn't bust into flames on stage. It just boggles my brain that a fellow woman will stand up there and say shit/agree with shit like that. I think this is one that needs to be understood culturally, not simply as any old adult woman living in the US I have had numerous Indian coworkers and have one now in fact. Both sons and daughters are expected to get married and produce kids. Many arranged marriages hinge on this point, and the negotiations can take years. Usha Vance's parents immigrated here in the 1970s so she is first generation born in the US. Cultural handcuffs are still strong then, although sometimes a woman in this situation is allowed to marry a not fully vetted non-Indian male. This man will be vetted however and his wallet and potential use to the family at large will be evaluated. Like him or not, JD Vance has a law degree from Yale, was a Senator and is now VP on the GOP ticket for the 2024 election. That's pretty good. So yes, saying things that allow you to stand by your man at least in public are expected. And many family members will give you grief later if they feel you did it wrong or could have done it better. HTH If not there is sand to pound in Paris vball courts and elsewhere.

I read up on her. She and her family have some very impressive accomplishments. They have, and i still don't understand why she is self loathing enough to stay with a shit bag like Vance. I do understand because I have connections to Indian immigrants right now who are dealing with the start of a Usha and JD situation. I get regular reports on whatever Indian billionaire is marrying whatever son off as it is a big, huge hairy deal. And she probably does not see Vance the way we do. My one coworker prefers Trump over Biden/Harris and liked the Indian GOP Presidential candidate.

I do not understand how any woman can vote republican at this point. I get that people often vote against their own best interest for whatever reason, but the actions of the GOP have shown they literally do not give a shit about women.
And maybe JD should shut up about children since his party obviously believes the rights of any idiot off the street being able to obtain a firearm without restriction is more important than children having the right to attend school without fear of being shot. I am pretty sure the Republicans have shown just how much they really care about children...

These women largely come from male dominant cultures or personal situations. Its what they know, so if feels known and comfortable to them. It usually comes with a conservative mindset. Sadly my own sister falls into this category even though she was treated better than many of the women in the Trump/Vance coalition. They live in fear I believe more than your average independent or liberal. They are constantly worrying about where the next threat is coming from ... What's new to me this round is that very weird creepy hostage voice that some evangelical women have. That really should be natural repellent for most non evangelical women as that woman sounds to me like at any moment she might snap and kill her entire family and possibly frame you for it. Super creepy.
