Hopefully we can discuss what's happening at the Rep Natl Convention here instead of the shooting thread or the general Presidential thread. www.yahoo.com/news/live/rnc-2024-live-updates-trump-vance-named-official-nominees-republican-convention-enters-day-2-154911564.htmlRNC day 2 theme: 'Make America Safe Once Again'
Day two of the Republican National Convention is focusing on immigration and crime with the theme, "Make America Safe Once Again."
Republicans believe that border security is one of the strongest issues to focus on. Authorities at the southern border with Mexico have struggled to handle the surge in immigrants trying to enter the U.S.
The Associated Press reports that for night two of the convention, Republicans "have arranged speeches for the family members of slain people in which immigrants in the U.S. illegally face criminal charges, as part of Trump's broader attempts to blame crime on border policies."
MASOA? Why do I want to pronounce it Matzoh? Some interesting speakers for tonight, just grabbed part of the schedule rest is in the link 7-7:30 p.m.

Some of the good day two stuff is Katie Britt, but check out what 45 said- “The doctor at the hospital said he never saw anything like this, he called it a miracle,” Trump told the New York Post while traveling to the RNC on Sunday.
breathes a little
Sure, let's pretend that any doctor feels it's a miracle you avoided death when a bullet grazed your ear. Any major hospital that has seen gun deaths and shooting injuries should have seen the I am very lucky injuries, ie. DJT and I am not as lucky injuries ... like the rest of the victims who were either dead or hospitalized. Also, from this article - Corey Comperatore, a 50-year-old former fire chief who was attending the rally with his family, was killed as he threw his body over his loved ones to protect them from the gunfire. Two other rallygoers — David Dutch, 57, and James Copenhaver, 74 — were also hospitalized.

Republican Senator Katie Britt has been mercilessly mocked online for her speech at the Republican National Convention, which brought back memories of her viral State of the Union rebuttal.
In the speech, Britt hit out at President Joe Biden saying that both he and the nation are “in decline” while Trump is the “change we need” this election.
But, rather than the content of her speech, it was Britt’s delivery that got social media users talking once again, with many likening it to her “breathy,” intense rebuttal at the State of the Union.
“Oh man. Katie Britt is giving another speech throwing off serial killer vibes again at the Republican National Convention,” one person posted on X.
I haven't watched this one yet, but I watched the rebuttal one to the SOTU.

I don’t get the hero worship because he didn’t get shot.
He’s lucky as hell. He turned his head at just the right moment. He was not a Superman who had a bullet bounce off of him. This is captain bone spurs we’re talking about.
The two real hero’s in this is the sniper who killed the shooter and the ex fire fighter who threw himself over his family to protect them while he was shot. Trump would probably consider the guy a ‘loser’ for letting himself get shot.
Yet I’ve seen very little about those guys or the two guys who got wounded.
Just how amazing Trump was for repelling the bullets. He should be down on his knees praising whatever form of MAGA gods he worships.

I would like to know if the fire fighter might not have died if he just audibled for his family to stay down. I am far more interested in what happened to him and the other two men. Where are the stories on them? Where is the coverage on the bullets' paths?

You'll have to explain that to me in plain English. On the EE board, we love freezer space to hide misbehaving peeps ...

Important article on what law and order means to the current GOPers www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/sleight-of-hand-how-one-rnc-speech-laid-bare-what-law-and-order-actually-means-to-gop/ar-BB1qa6DT?ocid=msedgntp&pc=DCTS&cvid=21e2e3463f9d435f92eb1a3d6eb5fc8d&ei=12In a Wednesday analysis for the Washington Post, columnist Philip Bump delved into a speech by Savannah Chrisley on night two of the RNC, which was themed: "Making America safe again." Chrisley's parents — made famous from the reality show "Chrisley knows best" — are currently serving federal prison sentences for conspiracy, bank fraud, wire fraud and tax evasion. From the RNC lectern, Savannah Chrisley noted that her parents were prosecuted in Fulton County, Georgia. Naming the Peach State's most populous county, where the ex-president is also being prosecuted on multiple felony charges, drew boos from the crowd.
“I know! Fulton County!” Chrisley said. “They know how to do it, don’t they?”
Though as Bump wrote, Todd and Julie Chrisley were prosecuted by the Department of Justice, not by local prosecutors (Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis was not yet in office at the time of their indictment). And the U.S. attorney who indicted the Chrisleys was appointed by Trump himself in 2017. He later resigned in January of 2021 as Trump was attempting to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

Mark Cuban slams Elon Musk over Trump support: 'Virtue of selfishness' www.foxbusiness.com/politics/mark-cuban-slams-elon-musk-over-trump-support-virtue-selfishnessThe latest flare up between the two billionaires came after Musk ally David Sacks posted a list on X of business leaders who've expressed support for Trump's campaign — including Musk, Bill Ackman, Ben Horowitz, Marc Andreessen, Doug Leone, Joe Lonsdale, Peter Thiel, Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss among others — with the message, "Come on in, the water's warm."
Musk quoted Sacks' post saying, "The choice is clear" — which led Cuban to reply with a quote tweet of his own that read simply, "The Virtue of Selfishness."

Day Three Bills, at the RNC - Donald Trump Jr.: 'On Nov. 5, we will fight with our vote' After introducing his daughter, Kai Trump, at the RNC, Donald Trump Jr. praised the teen for her "incredible work" then said, "Now back to business." He began his speech addressing the assassination attempt on Trump at Saturday's rally.
"Just days ago, something that once seemed unimaginable became a terrifying reality," he said. "My father came under literal fire as an incredible patriotic rally turned into a tragedy. On a field in Butler, Pennsylvania, a brave firefighter died, others were injured, and as those bullets rained down, we came millimeters away from one of the darkest moments in our nation's history."www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/rnc-2024-day-3-updates-jd-vance-prepares-to-take-center-stage/ar-BB1q9vQE?ocid=msedgntp&pc=DCTS&cvid=39858e138ceb479bbfc031df41c69255&ei=17I guess I am no longer a true Independent ... This was not the Las Vegas Massacre ... we know of probably at least three bullets ... do we even know how many there were? (Like is it really raining bullets if you only know of three or four of them? If I see three or four rain drops and it stops, I don't go on and on about the "Rain" I just survived. ) Were we really only millimeters away from a dark day in US Presidential history? Has any President been shot at in our history and been missed with so little damage and played it as if he had a mortal wound or something? I mean I agree with a female tennis great, the large Band-Aid on the ear is pure political theatre. It has no actual medical purpose. According to the news it was over fairly quickly. Just not instantly.

yeah. he can't help himself.
he loves the cheers of adulation. he would not get them with a message of peace, so he won't deliver that message. his message is about hate and fear. that is all he can talk about any more. it is about brown people streaming over the border, and people "losing their jobs" (in a time of record employment).
he is selling a dark vision of America without him. most of us are more worried about the dark vision WITH him.
