Has anyone been to Denali and actually SEEN Denali? GF and I just got back from a cruise/land tour. She had done an Alaska cruise years ago but agreed to go with me if we included a land package to the mountain. Had really good weather for most of our cruise days, which was nice. Got to Denali though and could not see it at all because of clouds. One of the other people we got to know a little bit said it was his fifth time there and had only seen the mountain twice. We did see the top from the plane home, since it was above the clouds, but not the same.

No. But its a name of a vehicle as well, right? Some places have lots of fog, like Scotland. Maybe its just a feature not a bug.

You saw above the clouds. Much better than the ground from my view.

What is the visibility of Denali?
The mountain is so tall, that people like to say “it makes its own weather.” Clouds bump up against the peak all summer long, so the mountain is completely visible only around 20% of the time. When you arrive at the airport, see if you can glimpse Denali to the north as you walk out the terminal door. Where To See Denali (Formerly "Mt. McKinley")

We took a bus to Denali and the train to Fairbanks. Viewing the top of the mountain from the plane was after leaving Fairbanks to come home. Seeing the top with white snow against white clouds from a long way away was better than nothing, but nowhere near as impressive a sight as we were hoping for. GF almost certainly won't be going back to Alaska, and it is doubtful I will unless things change, so that may have been the only chance. Did get to see some impressive glaciers though, and that has been on my list for a while. Really wanted to do it years ago before they receded so much. Hubbard is still very cool though. Incredible area.

Yes, I saw it on the land portion of the Alaska cruise. I heard that about 30% of people see it. I had joined a group of friends after they had made the reservations. So, I was on a different tour than them. They only saw it on the bus back to Anchorage. I saw it on the bus trip to the Denali national forest and also on the bus back to Anchorage.

TG-while not as high as Mount Denali, if you have never been to the Grand Tetons in Wyoming in the summer, you should. First place I ever saw snow on mountain tops in the summer. It is were I want my ashes to be scattered. Must have a good view though where ever the ashes end up.

Six and a half weeks, mid-May to late-June. Eleven national parks, two national monuments, several visits with friends of GF. Probably stood in just about that spot, looking at that barn.
