I've never driven in New York. My least favorite state to drive in is Georgia. (Apologies to our friends here who live in Georgia.) I've never dealt with so many folks who consider their turn signal to be optional equipment. And, let's not even talk about not even trying to drive close to the speed limit. Now Wisconsin wins my personal award for the most aggressive truckers. And, their state is where you're most likely to have to avoid hitting a deer. Just my personal experience.

My apologies to any NY residents, but you folks drive like complete idiots. That's all 😘 When I lived in Newark, NJ, my office was in Parsippany, NJ. But sometimes I was needed in Manhattan. Sometimes I took a PATH train which dropped me off under the WTC and then took the C subway to 53rd and Third Ave. Other times I drove in if I had errands to do after work. Traffic was always heavy but expected. Fortunately my employer paid for my parking in city garages where the NYC parking garage tax was 28%.

Yeah, I am fairly sure that, at least in Atlanta, the speed limit is just a suggestion.

That's true on Highway 20, right by my house in Iowa. Turn signals are also optional.

My apologies to any NY residents, but you folks drive like complete idiots. That's all 😘 I got my license in New York, but it gets worse. I moved to Florida, where all the nation's idiot drivers wind up, it seems. I do not include myself as an idiot, but I do see a lot of it. Tailgating, honking/middle finger/shouted threats combinations, shootings (you can now own a gun here with pretty much no classes and no restrictions), left turns well after a red light, people who refuse to turn right on a green light (or move at all, thanks to their important phone conversations). And don't get me started on cars vs trains. Everyone blames the trains and how unsafe the new Brightline trains are. No, y'all are Darwining this situation. Don't drive around the crossing gate in the down position. Don't drive over the tracks when the lights are flashing. Slow down and look both ways at a railroad crossing.
There are only so many lights, signs, signals and fences that can be installed before the whole idea of "don't mess with trains" is dumbed down to toddler level.

I just finished a three day drive from the Midwest to Maine. It always amazes me how differently people drive, depending upon where they are from. I know offensive driving can occur in any state, but the level of aggression seems directly proportionate to the amount of traffic. I'm sure some just have a hard time adjusting their driving tactics based on traffic volume.

You are correct. I had a nice car-totaled by a texting driver. Now I drive a SUV that I don’t have any feelings about and when I do drive, I remind the vehicle, “ it’s them or you, baby!”

As of late in the Memphis area, we have had quite a few road rage incidents where drivers, their passengers and vehicles are being shot at by other drivers. One doesn't dare piss off other drivers here. Sad state of affairs.

Or here in rural Iowa.
I think it was 2 summers ago, I was driving to get a Covid vaccine. Somehow I ended up between two cars in the middle of a road rage incident.
When the guy in the car behind me pulled out a gun, I just hoped the light would turn green fast so I could turn on a different street.
It was scary.

I have heard just about every state being accused of having the worst drivers. Where is this magical place where all the above average drivers live?
This country needs way more mass transit.

Anywhere but SE Michigan where there are more cars. Us "rural" folks don't have much traffic so we are less stressed. I've observed rural Mainers all week, and they seem pretty chill as well.

It's true they don't know how to drive in Florida. We nearly got hit by the same black Suburban twice on the way from the airport to our hotel. Pretty sure they had no business driving something that big. And don't get me started on the parking lot that is I-4.
All the insurance fraud has people trying to cause wrecks and make a buck. No wonder insurers are leaving Florida. My niece has her learners permit and says that jerks target teen drivers.

There are idiots who like to weave in and out of traffic just for sport. They are my least favorite type of driver in NJ.

There was a scam here about drivers backing up into your car then saying you rear ended them. Cameras in the car and on the streets stopped that.
