Political parties need to be attentive to state laws and schedule their national conferences accordingly.

Although I agree with needing to be aware of deadlines;
Exceptions have been made in the past Imagine the MAGA uproar if the situation was reversed.
If we are going to hew to the deadlines, both parties can just have their conventions at the same time in July. But then they would have to compete for the headlines

Great - call all the delegates, go into a big room - call the vote. And then have a convention-like rally in August. No law says it has to be televised or have 8 million speeches or whatever. Do just enough to get headlines - drown out whatever stupid thing Trump does for a couple days. And then drown him out again in August.
Kinda like when people get legally married and then a couple months later have a big wedding at a church and a reception, and everyone celebrates.
Don’t play with these fucking idiots. They just want to see the Democrats beg. Show strength by playing by their rules.

Most with jobs from which they have scheduled vacation time to attend the convention in August.

Political parties need to be attentive to state laws and schedule their national conferences accordingly. Ohio moved their deadline up - may be they should be paying attention to when the parties set their conventions? As you point out, conventions are hard to move.

First, from the link in the OP: Since Ohio changed its certification deadline from 60 to 90 days ahead of the general election, state lawmakers have had to adjust the requirement twice, in 2012 and 2020, to accommodate candidates of both parties. So it has been the law for at least 12 years Second, state election officials, who are the ones who have to ensure that every precinct in the state has 100% accurate ballots set up and printed in time for them to be mailed out to deployed troops early enough for them to be received and returned by election day, should be the decision makers - not party functionaries

How many elections have been held in Ohio over the past dozen years? 3 presidential but how many others that they didn't have to "fix" anything? Why should the states accommodate national political parties? The parties know it is a problem. Why don't they fix it.

Airplanes - Saturday, Sunday, alternate delegates, and the fact that you don’t need 100% of delegates to win. “From all over the world” - I would think they should be US citizens and residents to pick - so those that happen to be in another part of the world for whatever reason can make a choice. If it is important, it can happen. They have 6 weeks to arrange it.

If it is important, it can happen. They have 6 weeks to arrange it. I did research before I included "from ... all over the world." The delegates are individuals chosen to represent their state, territory, or Democrats Abroad at the convention. link And yes, of course all things are doable. I was just pointing out the reality of what it would take just for the delegate gathering side of things. Not sure about all the bylaw and legal hurdles that would need to be cleared also.

Where there is a will, there is a way. A very practical solution.
