I'm kinda chuckling right now. We've all gotten so old that all we seem to want to talk about is retirement and none of us seem to want to talk about what Suze says about retirement. Methinks this is that curtain of charity that I heard about once.

Because she's not retired! That's like taking marriage advice from me! I'll get my retirement advice from the people living their retirement lives how I wish to. My parents, my aunts and uncles, and a whole slew of of Bogleheads.

I used to watch her on PBS for entertainment purposes, but she can be a good starting point to get people to stop spending money that they do not have. Sort of a jumping board to other things.

The thought of working until 70 makes me want to vomit. I can't imagine working past 58 max. Ideally, not past 56. I actually like my job too so I really can't imagine those that hate their jobs having to work until the age of 70. That must be complete misery. I feel really lucky in that I have a great job. For me, it's more about being young enough and having the time to devote to other things. Working full-time doesn't allow for extended trips. I would like stay in Ireland for a few months (I am told 90 days is all you are allowed). I also would like to spend 4-6 weeks traveling around New Zealand and Australia. Traveling can be hard on ones body. I would prefer to do really long flights like to New Zealand while in my 50's if possible. I hope to still be able to travel in my 60's and 70's but I don't have a crystal ball. Who knows what will happen... That's not to say I wouldn't take on some temp/contract work here or there. I just don't want to be tied to a permanent job forever. I echo these same thoughts. I like my job for the most part. Certain people are increasing getting on my nerves. I am currently getting 6 weeks vacation. But only allowed to take more than 10 days at a time…

Same. If you listed to social media, you need north of $5 million dollars to retire comfortably. I know for a fact that, that is not true. Many of my family members are comfortable retired on less than $1 million some significantly less. Comfortable meaning they can dine out 2-3 days a week, take 1-2 week long vacations, can go out to the movies, the theater, road trips, keep up with wellness and more.

I love Elizabeth Warren! Back when DH & I were in debt, I used to read the books that she & her daughter wrote. She is scary-smart when it comes to finance. Too bad she didn't get the Democratic nod for President.

Too bad she didn't get the Democratic nod for President. Totally agree. When she wrote those books, she was a law professor and her expertise was bankruptcy/debt management. She was the perfect person to stand up the newly created CFPB. I wish it had translated into more for her, but Senator is not a bad title to have.
