Boebert showed up at Trump’s trial to show her support (I guess because none of his family is showing up to support him).
She apparently didn’t show up at her son’s court date seven years before, where her kid got scolded for not having a lawyer yet. He claimed he didn’t have the money to hire one and had only just filled out the paperwork for a public defender.
I guess she has her priorities straight. 🤨

Taking Trump out of the equation, is it really that uncommon for a parent not to show up for a court hearing for their young adult child? I’ve known a few people who had kids get arrested for various things and it wasn’t necessarily uncommon for them not to attend court hearings depending on the offense and the history of the kid.
Some of the parents seem to be great people who provided a stable and loving environment for their kids, and others not so much. Some didn’t show up because they tried to take a step back and let the kid deal with the consequences of their actions. Maybe not for a first offense if the kid was otherwise a “good” kid, but if the kid showed a pattern of bad behavior despite their efforts and got into trouble, so be it.

I think it would depend on the parent and on what the kid did and how old he was. Her kid was either 18 or 19 (I’ve heard both) and is facing felony charges for theft. He doesn’t have money for a lawyer and apparently doesn’t understand the process of applying for a public defender. Knowing what I do about our legal system, I would at least be sure to pay for a lawyer for him (and make him pay me back later). At barely 19, I couldn’t imagine completely abandoning him like this - while at the same time, enthusiastically showing up to support a lying, cheating, obnoxious Trump.

Maybe having a felony charge on his record is a right of passage and won't be detrimental to the kid's future job options... you know, kind of like a badge of honor. It's a good thing he's white?? Or is the assumption that he's gonna get off easy with or without a lawyer because of his family connections? Where I live - a felony charge for theft can be a serious thing and can limit your future prospects.
