I had heard pieces of this story, but now the horse’s mouth is talking about it. So Matt Gaetz had a BFF in Florida that he ran around with, and they liked to party with younger women. Gaetz would pay for ‘party’ fees to women using his Venmo account. There were witnesses. His party buddy came clean about it, and got sentenced to some time. Florida dropped their investigation of Gaetz, supposedly because the party buddy was too flimsy of a witness against him - or maybe because Gaetz’s daddy had enough political power in Florida to make them drop the case against him. Once they dropped the investigation the House ethics committee took it up, and Gaetz asked McCarthy to kill it, but McCarthy refused to intervene. And Gaetz, furious, decided to get him fired.
