See how many books you can answer from the clues. But please don't post your answers. If you know, you know.

I had to cheat and use the Google for 4, 7, and 20. Of the 25 books on the list I've read 18 of them - some in High School and the rest for "pleasure" or as part of "read the classics" challenge. And now I'm gonna get on my soap box. Why are the majority of these "classics" the one's written by white guys from a guys perspective? I'm pretty sure (as I have read the books) that there are books written by women (about more than finding a husband, raising children and keeping a home.) and by not white people (about a lot of the same philosophical, human nature, adventure, justice, etc.. stuff as the white guys are writing about). OK, maybe there are other lists like this that have a little more variety. Maybe there's a series of these lists... there's a heck ton of classic books. While I like Hemmingway - did there need to be so many of his books on the list?

Can we do our own "fractured book titles"?
1.) Not bad planet 2.) Herman Munster's look alike

On my first pass, I couldn't get 3 of them.
Then I figured out two of the remaining three pretty quickly.
#24 had me stumped, but I eventually got it. I think because I haven't thought about that book in a decade or two.
Also, I hate Hemingway.

Have you tried re-reading some of these classics? The racism, sexism and homophobia are so cringe-worthy they are hard to finish. I used to love Hemmingway, thought a pro-active writer with all of his adventures was so cool. Not sure I could finish one of his books today.

I have reread some of the books on the list well past having to have read them in HS - and I agree about the racism, sexism, and homophobia. I noticed it a whole lot more after getting some life experience and then having a second read of the books. Some of them I read for the first time when I was in my late 30's and 40's. The second read of a book though, left the biggest "mark" as it often made me think (realize?) I was a clueless teenager (as I just didn't "get" what the author was writing about) - but at least in HS there was usually some explanation as part of the course work. That realization that I was different the second time around was a very weird feeling. But, it is also kind of neat to discover that a book/story isn't/wasn't what you remember it to be. The book/words are the same but you the reader are not. Makes you wonder about "change" or "growth" one experiences/realizes/looks for in life.
