Bad news for GOP in Alabama

Alabama, where they shut down IVF not long ago due to making embryos humans, had a special election recently where a Democrat with outspoken opinions on IVF and abortion won in a district (Huntsville) that (barely) went to Trump in 2020. 

Not just won but won by 25 points! In solidly red Alabama. 

Now to be fair, Huntsville is maybe the only purple area in the state (high percentage of college educated, STEM degrees people - this is Rocket City after all, which is why the Trash Panda from their minor league team logo is flying in a trash can with rockets and fins).  This probably wouldn’t happen in MOST of Alabama.

Still - proof that abortion rights and access to IVF are very important to voters.

but keep in mind that not all Democrats will have the cred that this candidate had. as a woman of color, she ran on abortion. it was central to her campaign. an old white dude won't convey this message as effectively.

but Biden is going to try.

Biden has his own woman of color as VP 

He also has an opponent who brags about how ‘I’m the one that got rid of Roe vs Wade.’

Trump won’t lose ALL women, but I’ll be interested to see what percentage he does manage to lure into voting for him, especially while the red states keep trying to pile on more and more restrictions on women’s health care.

I see the likelihood it will increase Biden's margins in blue states and decrease Trump's in red ones. But will it make a difference in the Electoral College vote? Not sure on that. But at least it Trump wins, it would give him a meaningless talking point on how he was cheated out of a popular vote win on which to waste time and energy.

Harris is not widely appreciated by the black community.  i don't quite understand why.  perhaps someone that is part of that community can explain it to me.

If Trump wins all the states he did in 2016 but in some or even all of those states his winning margin is less, he will win the presidency.
