I woke super early at 4 so decided to start up overnight steel cut oats in the slow cooker. Hopefully 3 hours on high will get them done by 7.

It is 5AM here and I find myself awake once more. At least I was able to fall asleep in between. But this is too early to be awake, for the day.

I finally gave in and took some Tylenol, for my back @ 6:30AM. Maybe now, I can get a little more sleep.

I slept a bit better last night, but it still took awhile before I could actually fall asleep. Back when I was working full time, Sunday night was when I was least likely to fall asleep at a reasonable time. Weird.

The cats were all weirded out yesterday from all of the stuff in the basement disappearing.
They kept going to the basement and coming back upstairs.
That kept me awake longer than usual last night, but I did sleep through the night.
They are not happy that furniture that "belonged" to them is gone.

When I have something going on in the morning, I usually sleep worse, because I worry about waking up. I hope your day goes well.

Because they got used to it being there. I bet it's nice to have your space back, huh? How long did you store stuff?

Because they got used to it being there. I bet it's nice to have your space back, huh? How long did you store stuff? The stuff came to my house in the spring of 2020. I remember everyone being very careful and masked without question early in the pandemic. It was supposed to be gone in about a year when they found their forever house. They finally closed on a forever house in January in the middle of the big ice/snow storm we had. The plan was they closed on a Friday and would come here on the Saturday. That was when it was really icy and travel was not advised. Just getting the truck from their old house to their new house had taken hours because of the ice. So they said they would try on Sunday. However because of the ice and road conditions, nephew had no help to get things out of the truck so they decided to do that instead. He wanted to do it 3 weeks ago but couldn't find enough helpers. Finally got enough commitments from people to move it out Sunday, My great nephew who is a college freshman but comes home every weekend to see his girlfriend sent a text in the middle of the night that he was busy and couldn't come after all. DN3 said he never really planned on him. They knew I don't really like people in my house so they got the heavy stuff out and in the truck. The other stuff they got out of the basement and put it in my garage. Told me everything was out and they would be loading from the garage for a while. Opened the door and gave me a holler when they were actually leaving. I told DN3 he still owes me cat sitting because I saved them a lot of money and he knows that. He called when he found out how much monthly storage would be. Cats never lived here without that stuff. They didn't know anything different.

I drink a cup of Sleepytime Tea, by Celestial Seasons. That, or Tension Tamer. Both taste good, and really helps you sleep.

I don't think "feeling cold" all the time and not being able to warm up, due to medications/ blood thinners, is helping me sleep, or get better quality of sleep.
They make me more tired, but don't help me sleep.

Woke up at 4 and can’t get back to sleep. Maybe I should start baking. Bread or cookies? Something that I don’t need to use the mixer.

What can you bake that you don't need a mixer for? I have made pudding, using a milk frother. That's pretty quiet. My daughter is such a light sleeper, everything wakes her up! I don't dare do anything, while I'm at their house. Not in the night, at least. Although they suggested I could walk on the treadmill, in their basement. (I think, no.)

Yep, I wouldn’t exercise either. I decided on buttermilk biscuits. Got plenty of butter and have blackberry jam too. Just have to be quiet and not make too much noise.

Ugh. I've been awake for at least 3 1/1 hrs now. I'm miserable and just want to sleep! So tired. But just starting to get sleepy. I just can't seem to get comfortable One minute I have too many blankets, the next, I don't have enough. I get up and pace back and forth. I don't know what I want, or what I need, except sleep. I feel exhausted.

TMR - would you consider taking a sleep aid? You'd want to check with your doctor, but even something short term to help you get the rest you need for your body to heal properly. Anesthesia leaving the body can really disrupt things for quite a while.

Anesthesia leaving the body can really disrupt things for quite a while. Definitely on the anesthesia. Once the painkillers were off, I couldn't sleep after my gallbladder surgery. I spent two nights in hospital for the actual surgery and they gave me pain meds before it was time to sleep both nights. When I got home, I refused to take anything more than Tylenol and I had problems sleeping. Some was the pain and not being able to get comfortable but I think most of it was the anesthesia getting out of my body.

Anesthesia leaving the body can really disrupt things for quite a while. Possibly. They gave me a very small dose of Trazadone while I was in the hospital. My doctor mentioned it afterward, but I was really hoping to get by without it. Supposedly, it's non addictive. But I don't want to be dependent on any substance. I took Trazadone for years,30 years ago and didn't have any problems, but still. My kids keep making fun of me because I keep blaming stuff on the anesthesia. Haha Anytime something is in question, they say, "Oh, it's the anesthesia!" I have to wonder. Because it's not a typical reaction for me.

Hate to point out that being older means it's longer to recover and woman, you had major surgery where they were poking around in your heart, right? Sometimes sleep patterns need to be reset. Poor sleep begets poor sleep and you can get stuck in the cycle. Call and ask for Rx and then have your DD monitor your usage. I bet you need to use it 4 days or less just to make your body behave and Go the Eff to sleep Plus the heated blanket bc it's harder to sleep when you're cold.

The body and mind remember the trauma of surgery. If a med to help sleep is offered, accept it. Long term insomnia can be a killer. My H. has had horrible sleep habits for at least 3 to 4 years. He wakes at 3 or 4 a.m. almost daily. He'll get up then sleep in his recliner or internet in the middle of the night. He goes to sleep easily most anytime during the day and evening. So snoring day and night.
For me, I stop drinking caffeine at noon. I drink very little liquids in the evening. I start getting ready for bed earlier.
My sleep issues vary for different reasons. Sometimes nerves on tennis matches so I'll take Unisom if I have two days in a row. Many times my mind roiling from life long mistreatment from an ex-fiance from the 60s. IDK how this keeps getting into my mind. Nothing I can do about the situation. Road noise, I use a small fan when it's a bothering. If I wake about midnight and haven't taken Unisom, I will take a 4 hour Benedryl to help me get to sleep. If I miss that mark, 2 am or so I will use progressive relaxation starting with my toes up to my head. Some times I will fall asleep. Other nights I will use dead man pose on my back and deep breath. If none of this works, then it's probably hormones (a tingling) and nothing helps. A friend with sleep issues analyzed her day after. She doesn't feel 100% but is still able to function. She uses one of the apps on her phone that is white, green or brown noise.

It's 5AM. I need to get up at 6:30, so I am afraid to go back to sleep. I think I woke up about every 1 1/2 hrs last night, but at least I was able to go back to sleep, without too much difficulty. I'm glad I wasn't awake, pacing, most of the night.
But 6:30 is going to come too soon.
Enjoy your day!

Is there a couch you could sleep on if you wake up in the middle of the night and have a hard time falling back asleep? When I wake up in the middle of the night two or more times, I will often move to the living room couch where sometimes I get an additional three or four hours of uniterupted sleep.
